Or why it's not in the AAR section.

Just a hunch, but it probably has to do with the 6 destroyers that will most likely sink? [:)]

Yep, forgetting to set the "no escorts bombard" button is WITP 101. Not to say that we all have not done if.[;)]

Yes the DD that will sink but the Jap air downed again a huge wedge of the CV Naval pilots .
Perhaps it belongs in the AAR but I thought it ws interesting as so many guys moan about the doinance of allied air but in my game itseems as though neither side has the advantage in July 43

I think it has more to do with nuclear coastal defense guns.

When was the last time you saw a fleet taken out by coastal defense guns?

Perhaps it belongs in the AAR

It belongs either in the AAR section or in the War Room, but it does not belong in the general section.

There is I think two CD units and about 4 Art units ( which I assume fire as well ) are on Tarawa. I think only the DD will suffer - its quite reasoanble for the DD to suffer they need to come in close to bombard The allied player just needed escots not bombard.

3DD and two DMS sank right away the same turn

I think the CA upwards will actually have little or no damage . I would agree they CD guns managed to fire a lot of shots !!
That seems a bit unrealsitc

2 CD units + 2 arty units? That would make what - 100 guns? So 4 WitP equivalents of shots per gun is it really that much? For example BB is using usually 9 shots per gun.

IMO, both the CD and Bombarding ship fire is much lower rates than it should be. IF you are looking at a minimum of 2 shots per minute over just an hour that should be 120 shots per gun, not per unit.

The 9 BB shots listed in the ship screen are not "rounds" - they are an abstraction.

The 453 shots (or whatever) isn't that many for 4 arty/CD units - suppose 12 guns per unit x 4 = 48: that makes a total of <10 rounds per gun fired in the 12 hour landing phase.

A good artillery crew could probably fire almost 10 shots in about a minute or so from a 5 inch gun.

Yes, the rate of fire and number of rounds fired is extrememly low in this game. Modern 3"-5" guns average 10-20 rounds per minute of firing rate, depending on crew experience, gun type, and ready rounds.

Your typical WWII shore bombardment expended thousands of shells over the course of 12 hours. You certainly do not see those kinds of numbers in game.

we have enough nukes of bases and counter nukes of invasion TFs! Do you want to tripple the rounds expanded and tripple the number of nukes? Or make every bombardment a nuke?[X(]
