Patch is up :-)

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Why is nothing posted on the Matrix or SSG sites about the patch release??  Your link is to an FTP site?

[:)] I can't help being a snoop....

I'm sure they'll announce it shortly, there would be lots of links and pages they need to update first.

cheers

???

If you're refering to the main scenario selection screen, I'm seeing all four scenarios with the description.

Not sure what you're looking for... the battle descriptions are listed before you actually select the scenario you wish to play... Axis&Allied side have nothing to do with this. [&:]

Maybe JSS has the real patch and we have the pre-release version?

What i was looking for was the "scenario briefing" like all other previous DB games which added a little description and flavor for each side.
I guess you guys really did have some "cutbacks" this time around...sorry...i expected a little more.
Note to self: Stop buying 2 copies of each game to show support.

Are you refering to the start of turn specific briefings that appear from time to time? MG has these but the other three do not as I recall.

LOL.  I do miss the rollover pop up displays from the DB series.  What's really helped the most as far as learning this game is going back to the old Korsun Pocket manual/tutorial, as far as remembering what the little icons in the unit display mean.

I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to do some custom turn one screen mods with some text and a pic.

Then again, we always have these kind of resources :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Saipan

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gazala

Some fascinating Russian maps of the Battle of Novorossisk and scenario discussion

cheers Chris

In fact this is totally and easily done [:D]

There is no setting I can find in the editor to enable these... much like the maps can be in a separate xcr file, the turn briefings can also be placed in the xcr and as long as the proper turn file name convention is followed, these work automatically.

What this means is the turn briefings can be added without needing to mod the standard scenarios (no patch, no separate versions, just create and add the xcr).

As one of those who have the game, but don't play it, what are the changes in the patch, and will they convince me there is something in this game after all

Here's the change list:

V1.01

The V1.01 patch will invalidate v1.00 PBEM games.

- Fixed a number of refresh problems in 1280x1024 mode, which could leave images
incorrectly displayed on the screen.
- Corrected a sighting problem where naval units and land units moving could
incorrectly expose, or hide, enemy units.
- Removed info on enemy supply state from popup menus.
- Corrected a problem where a secure PBEM game would not load if it was
interrupted during a turn. This problem would result in the game being unable to
be finished.
- Fixed a small problem where an End Turn warning dialog would occasionally
incorrectly state that there were units still to move on the OMA screen.
- The music volume setting is now remembered when the game is quit.
- Fixed a bug where a dead unit could be recorded as having died a number of
times.
- Scenario files now show the correct briefing notes when starting a scenario.
- Switch ground now works in the Editor
- Added thread functionality to the AI (only applicable in advanced AI
applications).
- Partisans are now working in the Novorossisk Scenario.

Excellent JSS, so when are you gonna do them [8D] [;)] hahaha! I really dont mind helping if u tell me what to do and it speeds up the process. I can have a fiddle if u give me the basics, im decent at Photoshop and editing images so i just need to know where to place the files and how to create them. Post back on the SSG website as i frequent there more in the scenario design page.
