I hit the drop button and this message comes up.

Seems like a good hex as not mountain nor rough.

target is the blueish hex

its out of range - not close enough to your front line and not adjacent to one of your landing zones

FWIW, I would never directly invade a city hex unless absolutely sure (ie T1 at Siracusa) what is there, the ground units defend at full cv so you might be beaten off

Would it be helpful for the game mechanics to say 'not ready to drop' until the condition is met?

Or somehow add reason or color code to show why. Such as not in range or in another better case for insufficient transport.

I now know its 8 hex range.

btw the Germans rushed in heavy CV to counter my Italian invasion. Actually funny.
