Innovative Space Combat Sim Scheduled For Summer 2004

Matrix Games and Destroyer Studios are pleased to announce the upcoming release of an exciting new space combat simulator, Starshatter , to be published this summer by Matrix Games .

Years in the making, Starshatter is the next generation of space combat simulation games. Starshatter extends the gameplay concepts of the classic space sims by combining fighter and starship combat in a single game. You begin the game as either a fighter pilot or the commander of a small starship. As you progress through the game, you can earn promotions and awards until you are commanding a massive fleet carrier with three wings of fighters and a complete escort of warships.

Starshatter integrates elements of real-time-strategy games by allowing fleet commanders to direct the battle on a tactical level, launching fighters and directing destroyers to defend the fleet and annihilate enemy forces. You will arm fighters for patrol or strike missions. You will send orders to your escorting destroyers and frigates to engage enemy starships or defend the fleet from attack by enemy fighters. You are the admiral, and you decide how to employ all of your forces in battle. It is all up to you.

Strategic Command Beta AAR: First Moves

Welcome to the first Beta-AAR of Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe.  This is a mini AAR, and as such, the AAR will only cover the inital shots in Gleiwitz Poland in September of 1939, to the fall of France in mid 1940.   Since the game is still in Beta, there might be some changes of the material covered between now and the final release, but the game already feels complete and the development team assures me that they don’t expect much to change other than minor items to ensure any final polish and balance to the main campaign.

Players familiar with the Strategic Command series will immediately notice the much bigger map. In the north, the passage around Norway to Archangelsk is ready for sub warfare, and in the south, a large part of Africa has been modeled as well.

The Command LIVE project has officially taken off. The first release, Old Grudges Never Die, is out on our site and on Steam. You can purchase it here.

We are really proud of this first episode and of the project as a whole. Developers WarfareSim and Bart Gauvin, an experienced designer from the community, have worked hard to bring this project to life and this is only the start.
