Type: Press Release

Matrix Games, Slitherine (www.slitherine.com), and AGEOD (www.ageod.com/en/) are excited to announce the upcoming release of the Roman grand strategy game Alea Jacta Est. Focusing on the Roman Civil Wars from the 1st century BC to 3rd century AD, Alea Jacta Est is the first PC game to bring a highly authentic and realistic strategic experience of this tumultuous time period to players.  Alea Jacta Est will release on the Matrix Games and Slitherine online stores next week.

Alea Jacta Est offers a wide variety of scenarios, from the civil war between Marius and Sulla (and Mithridate of Pontus) from 87 to 82 BC, to the advent of Septimius Severus from 193 to 198 AD. An incredible amount of detail and historical accuracy has been packed into Alea Jacta Est from terrain to units to even the dilemmas and troubles the leaders of Rome actually faced hundreds of years ago. Using the successful and popular AGE engine, Alea Jacta Est will benefit from the ease of the team to create new mods, events, scenarios and more!

The whole of Europe, Northern Africa and the Near East is the battlefield in which the players must carve out. Featuring more than 2800 regions to conquer, rule, and fight over, hundreds of historical leaders,  units and events, five large campaigns, and multiplayer with up to three players in the same game, Alea Jacta Est definitely is putting the “grand” in grand strategy gaming!

For more information on Alea Jacta Est, visit the official product page on the Slitherine or Matrix Games website.

Strategic Command Beta AAR: First Moves

Thursday, July 28, 2016

Welcome to the first Beta-AAR of Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe.  This is a mini AAR, and as such, the AAR will only cover the inital shots in Gleiwitz Poland in September of 1939, to the fall of France in mid 1940.   Since the game is still in Beta, there might be some changes of the material covered between now and the final release, but the game already feels complete and the development team assures me that they don’t expect much to change other than minor items to ensure any final polish and balance to the main campaign.

Players familiar with the Strategic Command series will immediately notice the much bigger map. In the north, the passage around Norway to Archangelsk is ready for sub warfare, and in the south, a large part of Africa has been modeled as well.

Is there anything that seems more crucial in recent European history than the possibility of Great Britain leaving the European Union?

Probably not, because it’s really too early to say what the likely outcomes are for the near future. Nevertheless, many military observers seem pretty much convinced that this event could make NATO, the main western collective defensive system, weaker and less effective: What if other countries decide to follow the British example and like in a domino effect, the internal cohesion and cooperation of the European nations is diminished as a consequence?

Command LIVE Episode 1 is out!

Tuesday, July 19, 2016

The Command LIVE project has officially taken off. The first release, Old Grudges Never Die, is out on our site and on Steam. You can purchase it here.

We are really proud of this first episode and of the project as a whole. Developers WarfareSim and Bart Gauvin, an experienced designer from the community, have worked hard to bring this project to life and this is only the start. It’s the first time a detailed simulation takes on real life events to create such detailed fictional, but true-to-life scenarios.
