Posted: Monday, July 2, 2012 by Scott Parrino

Type: Press Release

Matrix Games, Slitherine (www.slitherine.com) and VR Designs (www.vrdesigns.nl) are excited to announce the upcoming release of the new turn-based operational strategy game Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue, the second release in the critically-acclaimed Decisive Campaigns series.

Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue brings players to the Eastern Front during World War II, simulating the German Wehrmacht’s drive towards Stalingrad and the Caucasus in the summer of 1942. Take command of the powerful Wehrmacht starting from the 2nd Kharkov Offensive and in Operation Trappenjagd or unleash the might of the Red Army during the Soviet winter counter-offensive in Operation Uranus that encircled the 6th Army in Stalingrad and changed the entire course of the war. With multiple campaign scenarios and a full scenario editor, there are virtually endless operational and strategic “what ifs”, especially when combined with the new high command order system. Succeed in your orders and you can guide future strategy in the campaign – fail and you’ll find yourself removed from command…or worse!

Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue comes packed to the brim with new features and improvements, more than we can list here:

  • 4 campaign scenarios (Case Blue (Long and Short), and Operation Uranus, 2nd Kharkov-Trappenjagd)
  • 1 linked scenario campaign (1st Panzer Army)
  • 2 small scenarios (2nd Kharkov and Drive on Voronezh)
  • New rewritten and greatly improved AI
  • Full scenario editor
  • Well-researched historical simulation
  • High Command rules, including “no step back” and dismissal options
  • Historical and dynamic Order of Battle, including player requests for replacements and reinforcement units
  • … and much more!

Be ready head to the front when Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue releases on July 16, 2012! For more information and the full new feature list, visit the official product page for Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue on the Matrix Games or Slitherine site.

About Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue

The development team behind the award-winning game Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw to Paris is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies.

Well researched and packed with depth, including detailed unit data down to vehicle level and historically realistic combined arms gameplay, Case Blue also features an easy-to-learn interface and a good AI.  In the campaign scenarios, next to the victory conditions, you will have to deal with high command orders that can instruct you to hold or take specific cities. Do well and earn prestige that enables you to request reinforcements and influence high command decisions, do bad and you’ll have to be careful not to get sacked.

To End All Wars and Commander: The Great War 50% Discounted!

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

The 1918 Kaiserschlacht (or Spring Offensive) was the last attempt by the German High Command to make a breakthrough in the Western Front.

On the 21st  of March 1918, a series of attacks along the front line held by the British Fifth and Third Army began. Strengthened by divisions coming from the Eastern Front and with an extended use of troops trained in infiltration and assault tactics (Stormtroopers), the Germans were able to achieve the largest territory advance of the war.

However, this all-out offensive didn’t gain a decisive victory. The Germans lost irreplaceable veteran troops and the conquest of the new territories resulted in hard to defend positions with a supply line that was stretched too far.
