Type: Press Release

Check your ‘chute – jump time is fast approaching as Close Combat returns to Arnhem!

Matrix Games, Slitherine Strategies (www.slitherine.com) and Strategy 3 Tactics are thrilled to release a video AAR showing off the elegant blend of turn-based strategy and real time tactical action found in the upcoming Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem release, which is scheduled to be available in early July 2010. The video AAR focuses on the first moves during the first two days of the campaign in the Eindhoven area, where the Allies fight to secure the bridges and keep open “Hell’s Highway” past Eindhoven so that XXX Corps could move on to the Nijmegen and Arnhem areas. The video is available on YouTube and also for download.

Also be sure to check out the teaser trailer (download) and The Wargamer’s developer feature that were released along with the announcement of the game.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “The sky this summer is going to be filled with Allied parachutes and we’re incredibly excited to see how fans of the original Close Combat: A Bridge Too Far and new commanders fare on Hell’s Highway! This video AAR of the introductory moves of the campaign shows some of the varied and addicting gameplay coming with Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem. Stay tuned for even more coverage before release!”

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements.  Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles!

As the Allies, you will carry out the world’s largest airborne operation, Operation Market Garden, to cross the Rhine and bring a swift end to the war or, as the Germans, use a hastily organized set of defense forces to prevent the Allies from reaching their ultimate goal, Arnhem Bridge. Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more!  Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!
