Lots of new battles, better AI, rule tweaks, and a convenient in-game updater come with v1.2.8

Matrix Games and Slitherine Strategies (www.slitherine.com) are proud to release yet another update for their award-winning strategy game system, Field of Glory. The comprehensive 1.2.8 update includes 18 new battles, tons of fixes and rule tweaks, plenty of AI improvements, and more! The game also includes an in-game update system for all future updates. With this new system, keeping Field of Glory up to date will be as easy as clicking a button on the game’s main menu.

Based on Slitherine’s popular tabletop wargaming system by the same name, Field of Glory now comes to the PC in a faithful adaptation of this acclaimed miniatures wargame!  Without the calculations and measurements required for a tabletop game of Field of Glory, the PC version accurately represents ancient and medieval combat where you make the important and fun decisions on the battlefield. 

 

Field of Glory – Rise of Rome is the first expansion pack for Field of Glory, bringing tons of new content and features in addition to a comprehensive Digital Army Generator (DAG). The DAG allows you to design armies to a specific number of points and then take these armies in to single player against the AI or online in multiplayer. Making its first ever appearance on a Slitherine title, the DAG is a powerful tool for any wargames addict! If the ability to create one’s own finely tuned army isn’t enough, Rise of Rome also includes 5 new terrain types, 6 new battles, a random battle generator, and over 100 new units including camelry, scythed chariots and artillery!

 

This award winning ancient combat system has also been catapulted into the medieval era with its second expansion pack, Field of Glory – Storm of Arrows! Covering the armies of Western Europe from 1300 to 1500 AD, Storm of Arrows allows you to fight against armies from the same period for historical match ups or engage in “what if” battles across different army packs to see how armies across the centuries would have fared against one another.

The game has had a tremendous amount of good press when it released on PC and iOS last year, but it took quite a while to upgrade the graphics and adapt the UI to the console systems. The whole concept of brining a deep PC strategy game is not easy to translate into practice. Ease-of-use and accessibility are key to the console players to enjoy games, but we made it!

It’s a game of 3D tactical space battles where players take part in the Second Contact War in a campaign with a branching story and over 60 missions. The game also allows to create own scenarios in skirmish mode battles. Orders are given during pause times of a perfectly balanced WEGO system, then players watch the results unfold in intriguing pausable real-time. There’s a pretty extensive arsenal of crew abilities and assault class ships, making the game extremely varied.

The game will allow you to take the lead of different Great Powers during the turmoil of two greatest wars of the early XVIII° century. The War of Spanish Succession (1701-1713) pitting the French & Spanish Bourbons monarchs against the Grand Alliance built by Austrian Habsburg, Britain and the United Provinces, andthe Great Northern War (1700-1721), between Sweden and Russia (and her allies), most of which focused around the succession of Poland.

In 2002, the original Strategic Command game was a relatively simple construct. With a limited rule set and a much smaller 62x37 map of approximately 2300 hexes, the requirements for the AI were not necessarily trivial, but in general terms, they were straightforward.

Fast forward to today, and Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe has been expanded into a modifiable hexagonal game engine allowing map sizes of up to 512x512 or 262,144 hexes!
