Get a glimpse of the intense tactical action storming hard drives everywhere!

Matrix Games and GFI (www.gfi.su) are pleased to release a new gameplay trailer for Officers – The Matrix Edition. This new trailer shows the addicting interplay between strategic and tactical considerations as the Allies storm the beaches of Normandy. The trailer is available on YouTube or for download in higher resolution and does a great job of showing why The Wargamer hails Officers – The Matrix Edition as “massive real time strategy action and huge battles.”

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “We’re proud of Officers – The Matrix Edition because it brings together great graphics and solid tactical gameplay in a real-time game that fills our “beer and pretzels” niche.  As with all our products, we put in the extra effort and care to create the improved ‘Matrix Edition’ of Officers to ensure that our customers would enjoy playing the game as much as we did!”

Officers – The Matrix Edition puts you in command of the Allied forces in the largest conflict of our time. Take control of the US and British armies in order to strike back and defeat the Axis menace on the Western front of Europe. With over 1500 units on maps up to 10 square miles, Officers is the first WWII real time strategy game to let you fight on a truly massive scale. Historical battles like Operation Overlord, Millennium, and Cobra will put your tactical skills to the test using combined forces from infantry and engineers to tanks, artillery and bombers.  Recommended for all gamers, the fun historical gameplay of Officers – The Matrix Edition will bring a smile to new strategy gamers and veteran wargamers alike.

Gamers can now enjoy an enhanced Officers experience with a game.  Listed below are some of the various improvements and changes to the game which are only available with The Matrix Edition:

  • Better campaign difficulty balance especially on “Easy” and “Normal”
  • An improved and expanded manual
  • Improvements to unit pathfinding for both friendly and enemy AI
  • Many map tweaks and changes which fix problems with units drowning themselves when ordered to cross a river or other body of water
  • A number of additional bug and stability fixes

Field of Glory 2 Developers Diary - A.I.

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

The AI for Field of Glory II has been developed by building on the knowledge gained from developing the generally praised AI for Pike and Shot and Sengoku Jidai.

Deployment
For non-preset scenarios, it is important that the AI can deploy its army in a sensible formation, taking account of the prevailing terrain.
Generally speaking, most ancient armies would deploy with an infantry centre in one or more lines. (Usually three for Romans, usually only one for Hellenistic armies). They would then have cavalry on both wings and perhaps in reserve, plus light troops both in the centre and on the wings.
