Type: Update

An important new update follows in the wake of the v1.03 mega update release this summer

Matrix Games and the Campaign Series Legion are pleased to announce the release of another update for John Tiller’s Campaign Series. This comprehensive update will bring the game to version 1.04 and includes the ability to make the new assault and visibility rules optional, some tweaks and improvements to OOBs for all games, a new series of scenarios for Rising Sun, and more.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Matrix Games is proud to continue improving and expanding the great gameplay found in Campaign Series for gamers looking to breathe new and innovative life into this timeless classic. We’re also equally as happy to still preserve the original experience for gamers who want to enjoy Campaign Series the way they did when it was first released.  Moving forward, we will be using optional rules for major gameplay changes to allow both groups of gamers to have the game they want.”

The John Tiller's Campaign Series compilation exemplifies tactical war-gaming at its finest by bringing you the entire collection of TalonSoft's award-winning campaign series. Containing TalonSoft's West Front, East Front, and Rising Sun platoon-level combat series, as well as all of the official add-ons and expansion packs, the Matrix Edition allows players to dictate the events of World War II from the tumultuous beginning to its climatic conclusion.

Reinforce your countrymen at the Western Front. Swarm Japanese strongholds on your way to their homeland. Crush the enemy on the Eastern Front. Protect the U.S. coast from Japanese invasion. March into Germany standing victorious with your allies. This exclusive compilation proudly offers more than 350 scenarios, fought by more than 35 countries stretching from France to the American coast.

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock - Dev Diary #9 'Evasive Action'

Monday, August 13, 2018

It’s quieter than you’d think. Even in the middle of the worst furball.

“Open racks and engage.”

No one else does what we do, out here in the quiet. One single pressure lock between life and a violent, cold, improbable death.

“Thrusters nominal. RCS is green. I'm good to go.”

Look at those big motherfrakkers. Debris means nothing to them. That armor could take a hundred salvos of heavy ordnance. Frak, on a bad day they’ll spill their tea after taking a nuke on the chin.

“Turkey right four lower three. I'm committing.”

In our world, one stray slug is all it takes.

“Tin can on my tail, take it down take it down!”

The difference between hearing your name whispered one more time, or never again.

“Krypter, krypter, krypter! I’m winged! Krypter, krypt--“

Aggressors Dev Diary #8 - Trade Routes

Friday, August 10, 2018

One of the things which was pretty difficult to implement in Aggressors was the way the game handles resources.

Initially, the number and types of resources were hardcoded in the game's core and the only thing which could be changed (or modded) was the amount required for certain actions.

"The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold, / And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;

And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea, / When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee." – Lord Byron

Ashurbanipal, Nebuchadnezzar II, Cyrus II ... these great kings are now covered with the dust of time, but the empires they created and the wars they fought shaped the Middle East irreversibly.

Here, in the cradle of civilization, the Assyrians ruled with an iron fist, until the Medes and Babylonians rose against them and ended their reign of terror. The Babylonians then repeated the cruelties of the Assyrians, razing the Temple of Jerusalem and deporting the Hebrews to Babylon.

Aggressors Dev Diary #7 - Customization

Tuesday, August 7, 2018

I have always loved to tweak games, looking for ways to change the look or even the rules and create something new. That is why modding and flexibility were a priority for Aggressors. We already covered modding in one of the previous diaries together with the experience of one of our testers, so we shall focus on flexibility.

Hand in hand with flexibility goes the degree of customization.
