Type: Demo

Full v1.13 Demo with Tutorial Now Available

Matrix Games and Koios Works (www.koiosworks.com) are pleased to release the first full demo for their World War II 3D Tactical game, Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm, which has just arrived in retail stores this week.

Based on the latest v1.13 release of Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm, the demo includes a tutorial scenario and a 22 page tutorial guide to introduce players to the Panzer Command system.  In addition, a fully playable version of the first scenario in the German campaign is included.  This is the first full-featured commercial demo for Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm, which has just been released, look for it at your local retail store!

Why should you try the demo?  Here’s why:  Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm earned a 85% review from Armchair General Magazine (www.armchairgeneral.com), who called it “A very nice introduction to World War II tactical WEGO systems” and said “No effort was spared in accuracy”.  The Wargamer (www.wargamer.com) said “There is enough balance in the game to appeal to hard-core wargamers as well as casual gamers looking for fast and fun gameplay”.  Game Apex Recommended Panzer Command and commented, “Panzer Command is a simple game to play, but a challenging game to win… historically accurate, and a challenge for even experienced gamers.”

Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm is a 3D simultaneous turn based strategy game where you command either the Soviet or German forces during the desperate attempt to reach the encircled German 6th Army at Stalingrad.  Each side has detailed 3D units of the historical vehicles and squads, from Panzer IIIs and T-34s to PanzerGrenadiers, Artillery and Air Strikes.  Two campaigns (one German, one Soviet) tie the scenarios together, allowing core units to progress from battle to battle, gaining experience, medals and special abilities. A point system allows players to “purchase” additional units for each mission in the campaign as well as replace losses, forcing decisions on management of resources.

Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm is also the first 3D tactical WWII game where the unit and weapon data as well as the unit art is stored in easily accessible open formats to enable mod support and customized scenarios and campaigns post-release.

The design for Operation Winter Storm lets first time users sit down and start playing, while allowing hard-core gamers to enjoy the realism and historical accuracy.  All campaign battles can also be fought as individual scenarios and two separate skirmish scenarios are included for maximum replayability.  The AI can control either side in each battle and a full Play-by-Email system allows for head to head play.

Empires Apart Dev Diary - The goal of the game

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

In our previous dev diaries we focused on the different available game modes, as well as the design behind the UI. Today we are going to cover a number of different subjects, but all have something in common: why we decided to make Empires Apart.

It’s no secret that we drew heavy inspiration from games that marked our childhood: Age of Empires, Empire Earth, and others. We wanted to bring back that feeling, the familiar atmosphere of games we loved, but also add our own touch, as well as modernize the formula, bring it to 2018’s standards. Empires Apart is, basically, the game we wanted to play.

Desert War Mechanicics .Shock Explained

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

“Everyone was talking and chatting, when slowly came into sight the first tank I ever saw.  Not a monster but a very graceful machine with beautiful lines….  Here was the missing tool of penetration, the answer to the dominance on the battlefield of small-arms fire.”—J.F.C. Fuller

Matrix Games/Slitherine’s upcoming release of Brian Kelly’s Desert War 1940-42 uses a simple game mechanic often found in WWII board games.  It gives tank units a “special place” in the player’s toolbox—a positive shift to the combat force ratio if attacking, and the opposite when defending.  Coming up short of attack factors?  No problem!  Throw in some tanks.  A 1 to 1 attack can become a 2 to 1, 3 to 1, 4 to 1, etc.  In Desert War 1940
