New Enhancements and Features Now Available.  Current Owners to Receive a Free Update.

Matrix Games, (www.matrixgames.com), is proud to announce the release of Hussar Games (www.hussargames.com) American Revolutionary strategy game For Liberty!   This release includes the new v1.70 release offering many new features and enhancements.  This release also includes the free 1848 Hungarian War of Independence.  In about one week we will release a updated version for customers who currently own the game.  This free update will move all current owners of For Liberty! to v1.70

David Heath, CEO of Matrix Games said, "This is a really great game that stands head to head with many of today's classic strategy games.  The detail in the design will really give fellow gamers a good feel for commanding a campaign in the 18th century."

Bulcsu Varhegyi of Hussar Games said, "We are very proud of this release and with Matrix Games support we feel twe have provided excellent service to our fans and really improved the gameplay we received from our fans."

Each campaign has a unique soundtrack, accurate map covering over 3,000 hexes each, and accurate units for each side and time period.  There are 8 total campaigns, 4 for each theatre of revolution.  At the strategic level manage resources such as recruits, horses, muskets, cannons, money, and supply.  Use influence to affect political decisions.  Command four hundred historic leaders and give strategic orders to troops such as siege, defend, attack, retreat, and rest.

In the tactical level, fight battles on randomly generated maps, giving a new tactical situation each time you play.  Command 16 different large size 3D unit types from 5 countries, each with authentic uniforms.  Units may adopt several stances in combat, including line, column, and skirmish.

In For Liberty! there are many realism factors that bring out the best of revolutionary combat.  Morale plays a major role in combat, and no soldier will fight to the last man.  Break the opposition's morale and drive them from the field of combat.  Also there are plenty of random events, such as pirates, betrayal, epidemics, fires, and much more.  To top it all off, a full campaign editor will be included along with a special bonus USA scenario.

  • Campaign editor - create your own fictional or historical campaign
  • New bonus American campaign.
  • Improved fatigue system in tactical battles.
  • AI enhancements on both the strategic and tactical levels
  • and much more.

Aggressors Testers Diary - Modding

Friday, June 15, 2018

As a young player I was always browsing game files trying to find a way to change them. It was partially curiosity and partially a wish to modify the rules to my own liking, because no matter how great a game is, there is always something you want to tweak or adjust.

The option of modding was part of the game design from the very beginning as I wanted to give the players the opportunity to create the Aggressors realm with me in an easy and user-friendly way. Over time, the idea was brought even further – I decided to create a framework for strategy games of different worlds and historical eras.

June, 1944. Europe has been under the Nazi heel for 4 long years. Even if the Eastern Front is crumbling and the Red Army counterattacks are in full swing, the German Armed Forces are still a formidable opponent and are making very costly every inch of ground conquered.

Only a breach into the Festung Europa and the creation of a second front could ensure the beginning of the end of the Third Reich.

Aggressors Dev Diary 3 - Diplomacy

Friday, June 8, 2018

Diplomacy makes strategy games feel alive. No matter how many barbarian hordes invade your borders nor how cunning their attacks are, without a leader who you can talk with to negotiate a potential ceasefire the enemy simply does not feel real.

We wanted to make Aggressors feel realistic, so we tried to bring some "life" into diplomacy. Interactions with an AI cannot replace the nuances of a communication between two human players, but if you give the AI a number of tools that it can use whilst following its own goals then the interaction suddenly feels much more real.
