The Strategy guide is really two books in one. Part one contains information on the game’s features and how to improve your skills. The second part provides the historical background on the battle. The strategy guide will offer wargamers a closer look at what Highway to the Reich is all about.

Highway to the Reich is the second wargame released by Panther Games in their critically acclaimed Airborne Assault© series. The new release covers the famous WW2 Operation Market Garden, a daring airborne operation designed by the Allies to breach the German defenses and end the war before Christmas 1944. Historically, the Germans reacted quickly and were able to stymie the advance by the British armor up the single “Hell’s Highway” while they overran the valiant British paratroopers who were defending a bridge too far. In Highway to the Reich, players get to take on the role of either the Allied or German commanders and pit their wits against either a computer controlled opponent or a human opponent via LAN or the internet.

Matrix Games/Slitherine’s upcoming release of Brian Kelly’s Desert War 1940-42 uses a simple game mechanic often found in WWII board games.  It gives tank units a “special place” in the player’s toolbox—a positive shift to the combat force ratio if attacking, and the opposite when defending.  Coming up short of attack factors?  No problem!  Throw in some tanks.  A 1 to 1 attack can become a 2 to 1, 3 to 1, 4 to 1, etc.  In Desert War 1940
