Home of Wargamers, the annual press event of the Slitherine Group, is only one week away! We are very excited to show you all the great games we are working on and we hope you are looking forward to the event as much as we are. We have already announced most of the games that we will be showing at the beautiful Italian Pavone castle, as well as the basic setup of the event.

While the games present themselves and the developers behind them are at the very core of the event, we are also offering you the chance to ask us questions. On the 14th May, the first day of the event, we will be hosting Question Time, where the attending journalists and guests will be able to fire any question at our panel. The panel will consist of JD McNeil (Chairman), Iain McNeil (Development Director) and Marco Minoli (Marketing Director), who will be ready to provide their insights and explain the company’s plans.

Those of you at home will be able to follow Question Time online via our livestream and you are encouraged to send in your own questions by either sending them in advance (email), typing them in the Twitch chat or by tweeting them using #HoW14.

Question Time will take place on the 14th of May and will start at 16.15 CEST. You will be able to watch the event online here and you can submit any questions in advance by emailing us.

Home of Wargamers will take place from 14th to 16th May. Click here to learn more.

Field of Glory 2 Developers Diary - A.I.

    Tuesday, July 18, 2017

The AI for Field of Glory II has been developed by building on the knowledge gained from developing the generally praised AI for Pike and Shot and Sengoku Jidai.

    Deployment
For non-preset scenarios, it is important that the AI can deploy its army in a sensible formation, taking account of the prevailing terrain.
Generally speaking, most ancient armies would deploy with an infantry centre in one or more lines. (Usually three for Romans, usually only one for Hellenistic armies). They would then have cavalry on both wings and perhaps in reserve, plus light troops both in the centre and on the wings.

Gettysburg: The Tide Turns is out!

    Thursday, July 13, 2017

The Battle of Gettysburg, fought between the Army of the Potomac and the Army of Northern Virginia, is considered by many the turning point of the American Civil War.

Lasted three days, from July 1st to July 3rd, 1863, the battle saw many epic and tragic moments, culminating in the famous Pickett's Charge, the desperate frontal assault of the confederates against the unionist defensive lines at Cemetery Ridge.

Today, Shenandoah and Slitherine are very proud to release Gettysburg: The Tide Turns, the brilliant hex-based wargame that will make you relive all the hard tactical choices the Confederates and the Unionists had to take during these long and crucial days of fierce fighting.
