Back to News Listing Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm Released!

Posted: Wednesday, October 09, 2013 by Filippo Chianetta

Type: Press Release

After the end of World War II, Europe spent years recovering from the losses and the terrible consequences of the conflict. A whole continent found itself divided into two blocs: one lead by the United States with NATO among its allies in the Western bloc, and in the Eastern bloc lead by the Soviet Union along with the Warsaw Pact.  Separating the two, an “Iron Curtain” formed of high walls and minefields as well as hundreds of thousands of well armed troops.

This was the Cold War, a forty year state of political and military tension between two superpowers that several times came close to starting World War III.  While the world survived the Cold War, the effects of the “long twilight struggle” still echo in the geopolitics and military technology and tactics of the present day.

For those with an interest in tactics and strategy, can the Cold War still turn hot? Of course it can, thanks to On Target Simulation’s new “Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm”!

“Basically what we are trying to do is create a Dynamic WEGO (simultaneous turn) system. Based on the readiness of your forces, jamming, and the loss of headquarter units, the time between issuing new orders will vary over the course of the battle” says Robert Crandall, of OTS. “ In Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm you will be the commander of either NATO or Soviet forces locked in battle on the ground in Central Europe. As commander, it is your task to provide the battle plan orders to your units. You will need to think on the fly and adjust to the ever changing flow of battle”.

Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm features an innovative asynchronous turn structure that models the OODA loop, huge maps, hundreds of meticulously researched platforms and weapons, detailed orders of battle, realistic modeling of modern combat including armor, infantry, helicopters, airpower and chemical and nuclear weapons, 3 campaigns and over 20 single scenarios, realistic weather conditions, modding options and much more!

Please note: The boxed version are on backorder and you can order them and receive your download immediately but boxes will start shipping from late October.

Strategic Command Blog Post n1! New Features and Game's Scope

Thursday, June 23, 2016

Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe is the ground-breaking next step in the highly acclaimed Strategic Command series of turn based strategy games.

A Return to Hexes

Our aim with the Strategic Command series is to make attractive, playable and historical games. Our aim for this release is to make a game that will provide one of the best strategic level re-creations of 20th century warfare, while also being a whole lot of fun to play.

The first and possibly biggest decision for us was to return the series to using hexes rather than tiles. There are pros and cons to both, but it was clear that the majority of those who expressed a preference preferred hexes, and we didn't disagree. So hexes are back!

Accessible and Entertaining Historical Games

The concept behind our games is that they should be easy and fun to play, while also being fully immersed in their historical setting.

So combat is quick to carry out, simply click on your units to move/attack. German units can be near Warsaw in no time at all!
