New Historical Campaign for Korsun Pocket
Matrix Games (http://www.matrixgames.com) is pleased to announce that "Across the Dnepr" has been completed and is available for purchase. "Across the Dnepr" is a new campaign scenario for the Korsun Pocket game. It recreates the events of July 1941, when Operation Barbarossa was in full swing and German armies were poised to enter the heartland of Russia. Army Group Center is aimed at the vital objective of Smolensk, located on the Dnepr river and defending the shortest route to Moscow.
David Heath, Director of Operations for Matrix Games, said “If you thought Korsun Pocket was a great game prepare to be amazed by Strategic Studies Group (http://www.ssg.com.au)again with Across the Dnepr.”

Although their frontier armies had been overwhelmed, the Red Army was far from finished. Remnant forces kept fighting and new formations arrived on the battlefield, ordered to make immediate, if somewhat suicidal, counterattacks. The result is a swirling melee as the two armies clash head on, and notions of flank security are abandoned in a desperate fight for survival.

Each Russian casualty, whether man or machine, can ultimately be replaced from Russia 's vast reserve, reserves the Germans simply don't have. Each day that the Germans are delayed at Smolensk is another day purchased for the defense of Moscow and the rest of Russia .

- 28 day campaign length scenario
- Huge battlefield with superb map graphics
- Special rules for Soviet entrenchment
- Improved AI scripting
- 117 Soviet divisions confront 35 German divisions

Across the Dnepr is only available via download from Matrix Games. More information can be found at www.korsunpocket.com . Across the Dnepr requires v1.1 or later of Korsun Pocket to play.

Empires Apart Dev Diary - The goal of the game

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

In our previous dev diaries we focused on the different available game modes, as well as the design behind the UI. Today we are going to cover a number of different subjects, but all have something in common: why we decided to make Empires Apart.

It’s no secret that we drew heavy inspiration from games that marked our childhood: Age of Empires, Empire Earth, and others. We wanted to bring back that feeling, the familiar atmosphere of games we loved, but also add our own touch, as well as modernize the formula, bring it to 2018’s standards. Empires Apart is, basically, the game we wanted to play.

Desert War Mechanicics .Shock Explained

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

“Everyone was talking and chatting, when slowly came into sight the first tank I ever saw.  Not a monster but a very graceful machine with beautiful lines….  Here was the missing tool of penetration, the answer to the dominance on the battlefield of small-arms fire.”—J.F.C. Fuller

Matrix Games/Slitherine’s upcoming release of Brian Kelly’s Desert War 1940-42 uses a simple game mechanic often found in WWII board games.  It gives tank units a “special place” in the player’s toolbox—a positive shift to the combat force ratio if attacking, and the opposite when defending.  Coming up short of attack factors?  No problem!  Throw in some tanks.  A 1 to 1 attack can become a 2 to 1, 3 to 1, 4 to 1, etc.  In Desert War 1940
