Flash-Based Tour of Award-Winning Wargame Now Available

Matrix Games and Panther Games ( www.panthergames.com ) are pleased to announce an innovative new Virtual non-Interactive Demo of the award-winning Highway to the Reich™ . Based on the popular Macromedia Flash plug-in, this tour of the game and its features offers wargamers a closer look at what Highway to the Reich™ is all about.

To start the Virtual Tour , go to www.highwaytothereich.com and select the option on the top right for the Virtual Tour. Gamers can choose either the small or large version depending on your internet connection speed. Highway to the Reich™ can be ordered directly through the Matrix Games online store or through one of the many Matrix Games online and retail partners worldwide.

Highway to the Reich™ is the second wargame released by Panther Games in their critically acclaimed Airborne Assault series. The new release covers the famous WW2 Operation Market Garden, a daring airborne operation designed by the Allies to breach the German defenses and end the war before Xmas 1944. Historically, the Germans reacted quickly and were able to stymie the advance by the British armor up the single “Hell's Highway” while they overran the valiant British paratroopers who were defending a bridge too far. In Highway to the Reich™ , players get to take on the role of either the Allied or German commanders and pit their wits against either a computer controlled opponent or a human opponent via LAN or the internet.

Highway to the Reich™ is receiving rave reviews in the USA and Europe . It is being heralded as “revolutionary”, “extraordinary”, “the new future of wargaming”. At its heart is “the best AI ever seen in any game”. For the first time, players can command like real operational commanders. Or as the GameSpot reviewer puts it “It's hard to convey just how cool this system is, because not only does it eliminate the massive amount of micromanagement inherent in most wargames, but it does so in a way that makes it feel like you're really commanding forces in the field.”

To End All Wars and Commander: The Great War 50% Discounted!

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

The 1918 Kaiserschlacht (or Spring Offensive) was the last attempt by the German High Command to make a breakthrough in the Western Front.

On the 21st  of March 1918, a series of attacks along the front line held by the British Fifth and Third Army began. Strengthened by divisions coming from the Eastern Front and with an extended use of troops trained in infiltration and assault tactics (Stormtroopers), the Germans were able to achieve the largest territory advance of the war.

However, this all-out offensive didn’t gain a decisive victory. The Germans lost irreplaceable veteran troops and the conquest of the new territories resulted in hard to defend positions with a supply line that was stretched too far.
