The original Legion Arena and the Cult of Mithras expansion are forming up and marching towards retail

Matrix Games and Slitherine Strategies (www.slitherine.com) are pleased to announce that Legion Arena Gold is now available for purchase. Building off of the success from their individual releases, Legion Arena Gold combines the original real time strategy/role playing smash hit Legion Arena with its popular expansion pack, Cult of Mithras into one “Gold” pack.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said, “I’ve been a fan of Legion Arena since their original releases so the opportunity to bring these great titles under the Matrix Games banner is particularly exciting for me. With the re-release of both these real time strategy titles into one pack, gamers can enjoy Slitherine’s fantastic products with the great gaming community you’ve come to expect from Matrix Games.”

JD McNeil from Slitherine Games included, “Publishing through Matrix Games has been a great experience thus far. The release of Legion Arena Gold is a win-win situation for both gamers and Slitherine/Matrix. Now players who are interested in picking up both Legion Arena and the expansion can get it at a lower price and with great ease. We at Slitherine are confident that the Gold version of Legion Arena will do wonders to create even more excitement about the series.”

Legion Arena Gold is an addicting blend of real time strategy with role playing. As the commander-in-chief of an ancient army, the player uses their tactical prowess to win battles on a 3D real time field and then use the experience and spoils of war to build a small band of warriors into the mightiest army in the ancient world.

Some features of Legion Arena Gold include:

  • Personalise the appearance of each squad by selecting their textures
  • Command vast armies in epic 3D battles
  • Earn experience and denari for your victories

Field of Glory 2 Developers Diary - A.I.

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

The AI for Field of Glory II has been developed by building on the knowledge gained from developing the generally praised AI for Pike and Shot and Sengoku Jidai.

Deployment
For non-preset scenarios, it is important that the AI can deploy its army in a sensible formation, taking account of the prevailing terrain.
Generally speaking, most ancient armies would deploy with an infantry centre in one or more lines. (Usually three for Romans, usually only one for Hellenistic armies). They would then have cavalry on both wings and perhaps in reserve, plus light troops both in the centre and on the wings.

Today, Shenandoah and Slitherine are very proud to release Gettysburg: The Tide Turns, the brilliant hex-based wargame that will make you relive all the hard tactical choices the Confederates and the Unionists had to take during these long and crucial days of fierce fighting.
