I have been happily playing WITP for months. Suddenly yesterday when I started up from the game menu, it crashed the whole operating system taking me to the blue screen with a physical memory dump and eventually a reboot. Tried it again, same result. Uninstalled the game, reinstalled the game, reinstalled the patches, tried again - back to the blue screen again. Defragged the disk, tried again, same result.

Anyone got any idea why this might be happening and more importantly what I can do about it?

Regards
Andrew

Try going back to a System Restore point before the crash - assuming you are running Windows ME or XP. I'm no expert but it sounds something happened to your computer recently. You may find a system restore will get rid of the nasty.

Run a virus scan as well. If you have spyware detection/removal software, run that too.
