Why doesn´t the Japanese torpedobomber attack with torpedos in Pearl Harbour??

They starts at height 9000 and drops 800kg bombs??

Tried with height 100 still they droped 800 kg bombs...

Can the 250kg AP bomb penetrate BB armour ??

Port attacks have a dice roll to see if they use bombs or torpedoes. I have averaged about a 30% chance to have some torps dropped on any port attack.

Do not underestimate the power of the 800 kg bomb. It will do a number on any size ship. Almost fatal to CL and below.

My current AI game had an MSW taken out by a torp and Arizona and Pennsylvania taken out by 800kg bombs.

No. But they do cause SYS damage and start fires, which in turn cause more SYS damage. OTOH, they aren't bad vs the PH airfield (on the first turn when the flak is light)

250 pounders can trash a ships AA firepower...they may not sink the ship but they can destroy mounts which are a pain in the ass to repair.

So *that's* what those bomb hits on the Saragota were.
I had lilly's bomb it two turns in a row and their sheer numbers ensured a couple got through and bombed my ships.

I was wondering why after several such hits the sys damage had gone up by a whole 2-3 points.

Turns out it's now missing half its AA guns, silly little bombs :)

When I do the PH raid, or any raid against ports with BBs in them, I send the Vals after the airfield. They do scarcely any damage to BBs, because in a port, fires are put out almost immediately. At sea, 10-15 250KG bomb hits might actually do SOME damage before the fires are put out.

It would be nice if aircraft that are dropping smallish bombs could be set to ignore heavily armored targets that they cannot really hurt.

I go for the ships...port and airfield damage can be fixed alot quicker than the trashed AA mounts in a BB...Hit them where it will take them the most trouble to fix.
