Are there any good strategy football games out there? I occasionally need a break from geo-political warfare, logistics and weapons research. Now that the season is upon us I often think of football (American). I am looking for a game where you call a play from a playbook, push a button and watch the players carry out their assignments as best they can. No silly clock, no arcadeish guiding of the ball or controlling an individual player. John Madden 98 was good at this. The new Maddens all seem to be video-game types.

Any suggestions for a "coach's" football game?

Agreed. I've got friends who swear by this title. I've purposefully avoided it because I already have a couple of games I'd play all day if allowed to. I know of no ome who didn't like it though. Hence the new sequel every year.

Also has a great College Game.

Multiplayer with FOF 2004 is good stuff. Check out www.fof-ihof.com for a great example of a FOF MP league.
