Destruction of Burma Corps

Post by Technopiper »

Historically, the Brits torched Rangoon before fleeing north as soon as the Japanese showed up on 7 March 1942. I made sure that Burma Road was closed and no route of escape was available. In order to achieve that, my progress fell way behind that of the Japanese army, but afterwards nothing stood between me and the Road to Mandalay where the flying fishes played.

He did invest some defense for Rangoon and I am sure some of those units will be missed. I would imagine the Japanese lost some much because they had too many broken down Divisions into Rgts. If he would combine them into whole divisions then Burma and India and western China might be in big trouble.

How do I merge regiments into a Division? I have all sub units in the same hex as their parent divisional HQ, but I see no "merge" command anywhere.

Sub units should be at the same hex, have same HQ, same movement mode, and same upgrade phase of their devices. Then the option "rebuild unit" is accessible in the lower left corner

There are no parent divisional HQs in the game. When you divide a division it divides into three regiments with no HQ unit.

Regiments can only be recombined if they all have the same devices. If 'upgrades' was left on when the division was divided, there is a risk that one or more regiments will upgrade a device without all of them upgrading because the device pool runs dry.

Always, always, ALWAYS turn OFF upgrades when dividing divisions.

There is a drawback to combining the sub-units into a division while in movement mode - you lose all the current movement and go back to 0 miles. Better to combine while staying in a hex.
Also check the leader after forming a division - frequently (more than 50% IME) of the time the poorest leader of the sub-units becomes the leader of the Division. You then have no choice but to spend PP to put in a decent leader.

I believe he is playing SCEN 19, which is a regiment size scenario.

As such the divisions are represented as their constituent regiments, some artillery, HQ, etc. as separate units.
I do not know what is scarier: that I do understand nothing of this demonic script or that I am starting to see the demons that it evokes.

Me, studying for a PHD entry exam in Applied Mathematics.

Exactly! I checked with grand campaign and realized that it works differently with the customized Burma Campaign. Mysterey solved.
