I was reading the Ted Bundy wiki a few months and focused on a paragraph that said something to the fact that Psychopaths can be very dangerous because they dont have the normal inputs of emotions to provide them with empathy for others, or a moral compass.
I suddenly had a dreadful thought that AI, self-aware or whatever the term could or likely would be extremely dangerous since, like psychopaths, it wouldnt be fully "human".

Hmmm. Somewhere down the line 12 AI jury, AI judge, AI prosecutor, AI defense lawyer, press the button, instant justice. Hmmm.

It really comes down to the the Jurassic Park conundrum. Such a hurry to see if it could be done, no one stops to ask if it should it be done. Is the concept of having total control merely an illusion?

If children are any indication.....then yes, control is an illusion.

I agree with Stephen Hawking on this one... a real A.I. will kill us.

"Lose" is the opposite of "win." "Loose" is the opposite of "tight."

This is a great article on AI, including positive and negative points:

and a good positive story to balance out some of the negativity:

You know I was against self driving cars but then I started to think about how it will help older people drive. We will all get there someday. It could decrease a lot of accidents and maybe our insurance costs.

About those computer overlords:

If you're not conscious you're not an overlord. At best you're a tool.

Science Fiction is crammed full of conscious machines. Robbie the Robot was a conscious machine. The H.A.L 9000 in 2001 was a conscious machine. The droids in Star Wars were conscious machines. There's currently some insurance company with a conscious machine as an ad gimmick. You can't turn around in Science Fiction without bumping into a conscious machine.

But reality is completely devoid of them. And there is a real speed bump to making them: We don't know what consciousness is! And we've been working on that for decades without any real progress. Fusion Energy research is making more progress than that - and Fusion Energy is permanently 50 years in the future. How do you make something when you don't even know what it is that you're supposed to be making?

It's even conceivable that when we finally figure out what consciousness is, it will be so intertwined with biology as to be inseparable. That means no conscious machines, ever.
