it's like this from beginning of Mud
Turn 37
air losses were 12 vs 89
destroyed 8 regiment and 2 HQ

Turn 38
air war continue 12 vs 112
we encounter more MiG and Lagg, even if older planes continue to be there
we could killed 2 regiment and 4 HQ (43rd Army included)

on the picture 2 Armies are stacked
rail line is in Kiev and about 12 hexes NW from selected unit

Turn 40
as you can see supply is at 14 on rail line

air war has been poor, I lost 19 planes for 94
we could destroyed 8 regiment and Western Front HQ

there is actually 37 regiment and 19 HQ isolated (from which: 18th, 19th, 28th, 40th and 50th Armies)

Not terribly bad, but certainly not good. Do you have enough engineers to repair the rails?

engineers are great in the north, about right in AGC and not much in AGS even with help from minors

New moves from Patrick and I watched the combat replay and now I'm moving my aircraft to better positions prior to moving anything else. Oh, I did disembark everybody as the first act.

I think I found a tiny problem with changing the color of the crop circles for the aircraft. Mine are almost invisible so I wanted to change the color to something darker and it doesn't seem to work. I changed the color to purple and dismissed the dialog expecting to see the color to change on the range arc and it didn't. So I opened the dialog again and I see that it has the color I changed it to but neither of the range arcs are the right color. I'm wondering if I have to reboot TOAW to see the change.

Turn 42
as expected ground begin to dry and freeze in the north

I show you what's happening in the south
the Dnepr is crossed in different places
a Cavalry division has been pushed from Nikopol
we could take Kherson too

air war has been horrific 52 vs 320 planes, this mean destroyed only no damage

we continue to kill some units 23 regiments and 12 HQ
as Larry give them order (no retreat), it happens that they disappear in a fight

New moves from Patrick and here's the losses in foot soldiers so far. Heavy losses....and I've got 10K partisans on hand and can't use them yet. As I recall, both Patrick and I chose the TO that turned off the partisans for the entire game. I could be wrong.

According to the inventory my losses in aircraft have been unusually heavy. Compared to what I had on hand 10 turns ago, I'm down to a handfull of planes on hand for the different models. The early models of fighters, the I-153's, I-16's, and MiG-3's, aren't going to be produced after T48 and there aren't that many on hand so they will soon be gone from the inventory. I'm going to have to depend on the Yak-1 for a long time and that aircraft isn't really all that much better than the biplanes they replace. I'm going to have to press the Il-2's into AS service for now instead of using them for CS because I'm extreamly short of fighters at the moment.

My main bomber, the Il-4's have seen too much combat lately judging from the number of them that have been lost. I'm thinking of holding them back from the fighting so that the number of the on-hand isn't zero any longer. Only 64 of them are assigned and their service probably isn't making all that much difference to the war effort so I'm thinking of moving all of them to Stalingrad for a future fight. Which will leave me with the SB-2's and the Pe-2's for bombers, and of the two the Pe-2's are the better bomber but only slightly. Neither of them are spectacular performers. Of all the Soviet bombers I favor the Tu-2 but I don't start getting any of those until about T300. I'm hoping for some Lend Lease aircraft soon.

You've lost more aircraft than the entire world has in service.

It seems that way. Patrick has destroyed about 80% of my air fleet. As winter continues to approach I expect the weather to get so bad that launching aircraft would be a waste of fuel. I wasn't planning on pulling them out of the conflict this early but now WOULD be a good time to park them near the Urals.

This is the 159-hex range arc of a squadron of SB-2's and I've decided to experiment with moving them deep into the rear but still covering the important areas at the front lines. I'm thinking there will be fewer airfield strikes that way. But I'm wondering about the performance of those groups that are that far away from the action. Will they fly less often?

I've just now learned to check the weather before you assign an aircraft unit to an attack because if the weather is bad over the origination hex or the target hex then the aircraft may not pass the weather check and they may not fly. If you move them to a good weather airfield they have a much better chance of launching ( unless the target is in bad weather ).

Turn 43
Operation Typhoon is launched, hope not to regret later.
I have now a one turn delay.

AGN
first units are at the gates of Nevel.
Part of Russian front is isolated.

Again a hard time for Luftwaffe: 60 planes + 3 during Larry turn for 258 + 25
net 63 vs 283

AGC

only good news is the fall of Smolensk
rail line is near there.

part of the front to the west is cut off except Vitebsk

we continue to erase some units 26 regiment and 7 HQ (28th and 44th Armies included).

Larry told me, he got many units reorganizing.

AGS
rail lines are a bit fare except near Kherson.

Dnepropetrovsk has been isolated.
First unit arrived near Zaporozhye.

A full Army has been cut off near Kherson
I kept some height as the theater is of great size.

Isolated units are over 81 regiments and 26 HQ
