Victory at sea The Pacific.

Post by goodwoodrw »

G'day folks, I have been watching the development Rules the Waves 2 and i am very much looking forward to its release. However whilst on the NWS website a discussion come about future naval war game releases, one being the above title Victory at Sea. I had a look at the game over at Steam, the reviews are mixed and the price is high. So I am looking for anyone this site to give an opinion/s. I'm sucker for naval games.

It is full of bugs and unhistorical problems ... wait with buying. It looks nice and is really huge but it needs repair and rebalance ... look at some reviews from last time.
Excuse my English ... I hope is better then Your Czech ... 8-)

Yer the Steam reviews are inconsistent, always worries me when you see someone give a review with hours or less game time. The look quite complex so I think you would need some considerable game time to make a serious assessment

Maybe reviews would be better if you have ten hours or more in the game?

The Wargamer review suggested it would be a good game once all the bugs ironed out. I guess wait and see. This option will see a discounted game and the major bugs fixed. The devs appear to be reasonably active, always a good sign

The game looks like it should have been released as Early Access given how unfinished the forums suggest it is. I think I'll wait a while to see if it gets updated.

As regards reviews, negative reviews can be valid after a short time played. For example a game might be inaccessible and difficult to use; that's useful info and more likely to be reported by a new player than a veteran.

I don't know about that game, the devs and people behind that game isn't creative or have much knowledge how things should be setup it. To me it is a just random game. Maybe someday with the right mods may turn this around something positive.

I still miss playing Pacific Storm Allies, sadly it is bugged too and they never fix it. So VaS:P look like another brick in the wall.

While some of us wait till Victory at Sea Pacific gets bug cleaned, one can still play PSA v1.8.4. [;)]

Here´s some info...

Download site (future Pacific Storm Fury):
https://www.pacificfury.net/pacific-storm-allies-1-8

The 1.8.4 patch is 10GB so be aware of that.

How to video:

YT video earlier v1.8.2 (+3hrs long):

So far it works for me with the Steam edition of PSA.

Or one can go the Juntland Pro Edition way (Norm Koger)...

Storm Eagle Studios (SES), has rotational sales every day, so you can pick up Juntland or Distant Guns on sale if you keep an eye on them. Today Junland was on sale, still 12hrs left.

SES uses the "Stormpowered" app (similar to Steam), but you can play offline.

You do need to spend some time with it as it´s on the hardcore side but it´s great, you have a editor, multiplayer ect. Demo available too.

They have had nothing to do with it for some time now. IIRC the last update broke it. The forum is on life support. You'd be better off with Steam and Iron.

In other words, don't bother. IMHO any way.
Watched a documentary on beavers. Best dam documentary I've ever seen.

Oh yeah, I agree but that dosent mean folks don´t play it. It is a "niche" market so not much out there. Latest version is v1.1.6.5, works just fine on W10.
