This scenario was built to test surface warfare tactics for LCS and proved entertaining enough that I figured it might be worth polishing a bit and posting. It pits 4 LCS with only their current weapons systems against half a dozen Russian frigates and missile boats in a pure surface action in the Baltic. It usually only lasts around 4 hours of game time and has randomized spawns for the Russians so you can test new tactics without having too much information from the previous play through.

I'm interested in both what tactics you decided to employ as well as how I can make the scenario better.

Nice small scenario to check ship capabilities. So far I've dispatched 2 x Tarutal using Hellfires from helicopters. It's easy to stay out of their AA range and just launch Hellfires once you locate them. Just found 2 Soobrazitelny FFG's. They are a much different kettle of fish with longer range AA so that approach won't work. And their SSMs slightly outrange the Harpoons of the northern group of LCS. Haven't decided how to approach them yet.

So far I like it. I'm a fan of smaller scenarios that don't overwhelm me.

I totally agree that you seem to have more control with the smaller sized scenarios. I like them much better.

OK, anyone has any tip to deal with the frigates?

Because they have been able to shot down a coordinated strike of all my manned and unmanned copters along with the harpoon salvo and I'm out of ideas.

Do not waste your Harpoons at start. Regroup into 3 + 1, separating out the Harpoon carrier.

Us the aircraft you have early to kill all the missile boats. Meanwhile, run the group of 3 down in front of the convoy - their job is to soak up the missiles of the Russian FFG, then close and try to kill with anything left. After missile boat strike reload whatever you can.

If it all works the Russian missile boats are gone w/o costing you too many defensive missiles, the group of 3 is positioned between the Russian FFG group and the convoy and the Harpoon loaded boat is kill positioned out to the west. Run the LCS just faster than convoy speed at the FFG and light up the radars. If the FFGs launch their missiles you now have a chance, assuming your RAM can kill the Russian SSM. Charge them with group of three, holding back the Maverick boat a bit. Its 24 missiles may be enough to burn through the Russian supply of sam, giving your Harpoon shooter a chance.

Wow, It's basically flawless, what was the tactic you employed?

Specifically, how do you endured the whole of russian SSMs unscathed?

Move all the ships very close togehter so they can help each other with the missiles. Also you have to micromanage the positions of each ship (reactangular to the missiles). I also micromanage the launch of missiles. Also luckily the missiles didn't come all together so my air defense wasn't saturated. I had also luck that one guy made it through but didn't explode, one was shut down with my guns and a few did miss my ships ( i suppose the island was hidding my ships a litle lit so the missiles miss about 8nm)

More difficult was then to sink the 2 frigattes.. Two of my ships were severy damaged and one was sinking but i managed to sink the enemy first.....

It's a challenge. At one point I had a running gun battle with a Buryan and was doing well until my 57mm gun malfunctioned. Scratch one LCS at that point. Lost 2 LCS's, and quit when there was two 1 on 1 opponents but out of missiles completely. They were out of SSMs. Probably could go to gun range but at that point it was basically a standoff and who got lucky.

Overall I like it.

I'll bet it all depends on how stealthy the LCS's are We shall see. Nice scenario. Thanks,
