I have many wargames and have been playing since 1965 with Avalon Hill's D-Day and Gettysburg. But Frank Hunter's Piercing Fortress Europa has been one of the few that has held my interest since I installed it years ago. It is also one of the few that I have played the scenarios/campaigns all the way through to the end without losing interest. The games combination of supply/fuel/combat/replacements/airpower is un matched in a divison sized we go game. This salute is to Frank Hunter's excellent game and I wish him best of luck in future titles. June 6th D-Day would fit this game system perfectly. Buy this game if you don't have it yet. Thank for reading!

Frank Hunter, author of Piercing Fortress Europa also did Campaigns on the Danube - also here on Matrix - which is in my view the best depiction of pre-railway and telegraph era operations.

The orders you give (as Napoleon) to your corps commanders are so like those he actually gave - and the consequences of orders not received or understood exactly.

Try it; or at least look at the AARs on the forum for an idea of what it does.

yes , COTD is great also; he had a American Civil war game 20 years ago that was light years ahead of anything else. He also had an 1806 Napoleonic game too

I have PFE too. It's a cool game. I wish he had expanded the system to other fronts.

I agree too, an excellent title. Are we sure there will not be another title using this system? I still hope there will be.

Don´t forget "Guns of August 1914-1918". All three of his titles are great and have a very different feel to other wargames.

I too wish he would either expand these titles and/or make new one´s.
