Hello all, I wanted to ask the devs if it is possible to change the way that SU levels work for HQs, my concern being permanent Pioneer and Construction Bn that are assigned even if support level is 0 (2 of each respectivly for a Corps HQ). As the Axis this is more of a hindrance than a help as all the other higher commands (army, army group and OKH) will redistribute Pioneers and Construction battalions. As a result you cannot get Pioneers where they are needed and you constantly need to reassign them spending valuable APs.

Wouldn't it be easier if Pioneer and Construction battalions followed the same rules as all other SUs? If a Corps HQ is set to support level of 0, then it should not get any SUs. IMHO this only adds unnecessary micromanagment and adds nothing positive to the game. You will see that in my next AAR report how this hindered an assault on the entrance of the Crimea.

Opinions by other players are of course welcome.

Cheers,
Xhoel

Yes, it seems odd to me that it works this way. Only thing I can think of is to protect the function of deployment of construction units to rail repair.

And you will see the same opinions expressed by very many others scattered all over these forums!

Rail repair do not move when they are "on map" so it seems to me there is already an inbuilt function for them?

I hate this special rule for construction units so much. Not sure what devs were thinking.
Please fix this!

Patching by vote, I like that concept!
Direct or representative democrazcy? Shall we form RFB* and AFB parties?

PR or FPTP? - and if proportional representation which system?

What if the tiny SFB* party holds the balance of power?

I prefer PR, even if I am surprised you Brits haven't suggested morvael as king of a parlamentarian monarchy.

Your suggestions reminds me we need a middle-of-the-road one for people not leaning towards the extremes.

It is time for a constituent assembly I say!

Do not tempt me to rewrite another subsystem...
I've always played with locked SU and it was fine.

Please please do that morvael. Why not simply two separate SU level settings for normal and engineer/construction, or make engineer/construction work like any other unit.

Locked SU is no substitution at all for this.

Also when a new HQ arrives (due to arrival/withdrawal schedule) it would be nice to have it arrive on "locked" status, or at least with 0 support level instead of 3. Otherwise it gets stuffed with SUs immediately :(

Good call maurader that would be a lovely quality of life change for those players who have a tendency to forgot a thing or two each turn

Its not only for these who forget things ;) On the Soviet side new armies arrive nearly every turn at the beginning of the game. Due to the lvl 3 support issue its hard to migrate SUs automatically. You left Stavka unlocked? BAM the two new armies have 4 RR brigades, 5 motorcycle battalions, and a few sapper and art regiments between them :D

Boy, I hadn't even thought of that. I just assumed that everybody would come in with 0. Why wouldn't they?
