Today I was thinking of new WW2 movie ideas that can take advantage of modern CGI. There are obviously plenty that could be made. One on Operation Chariot (the St Nazaire raid) would be excellent.
Although, Dunkirk was an international success, the realities of the movie industry probably mean that a real blockbuster will have to involve the U.S. Hence I had a couple of ideas...
1. A new Battle of the Bulge film. This would probably revolve around the siege of Bastogne and it's eventual relief. Featuring menacing SS Jerries, imposing Panthers and King Tigers etc, desperate defence against the odds, a gutsy relief and Christmas celebrations. Probably best to gloss over the slow reduction of the Bulge and concentrate on the first week or so.
2. A Flying Tigers movie. This isn't a well known story anymore and given China's rise as a movie marketplace, might be a shrewd move (i.e. emphasise the Chinese angle). It'd probably be best to show their transition to the 23rd Fighter Group too, so as to have cool P-51 Mustangs and eventual victory.
