Does naval of Blockade of ports have any supply reduction effect on connected downstream towns/cites that can only trace a rail line connection to the blockaded port?

For example, would naval blockade by the Allies affect the supply values of Axis controlled Sidi Barrani, Mersa Matruh and/or El Alamein, if the Allies controlled Alexandria and Cairo?

Hi Cristolos

It just prevents the port your naval units are adjacent to from providing supply, so generally it will only have a localised effect.

Thanks Bill, but shouldn't this also affect the supplies that Sidi Barrani, Mersa Matruh and El Alamein (if Axis controlled) get, in the same way that Allied controlled Malta affects downstream supply

How else would these supply centers get their supplies if not from the ports of Benghazi and Tobruk via the coastal road/railway system?

The difference is that a blockade of a port whereby placing a naval unit adjacent to it prevents any land units getting supply from the port is a generic engine feature, whereas as what you're suggesting is very location specific it would require an extra layer on top of this feature. It's not something we currently have, although it could be done in a different and more indirect way using supply scripts.
