What's the oldest tank ever used in combat? Lots of WWII surplus tanks were in 3rd world country inventories in the 1960s, but I don't know if any fired in anger.

I believe Shermans and Panzerkamfwagon IVs met in the desert in the 50s, not sure but they were in use.

These weren't tanks, but the former Yugoslavian armies had some US tank destroyers (both M-18 and M-36) and a few SU-100 of WW II vintage in the 90s. I don't know when it was retired, but when the US went into Afghanistan they found a tank graveyard and among the finds was an FT-17. From the pictures I saw, it looked restorable.

T-34s were used all over the world after WW II. There are a number captured in Vietnam in museums around the US. When Yugoslavia broke up they had quite a few Shermans and T-34s, though I believe most had been relegated to reserve by that point. The bulk of their tank forces were T-55s.

I am sure some of the museums with WWI tanks have the original British tank - the one with the body sitting low between the treads and the cannon on a sponson on the side. I vaguely recall seeing a picture of one with some combat dings on it. Since that was the first AFV ever called "tank", that would be the oldest still in existence. I have no idea if any of them are operable.

Israeli army had a good amount of Shermans (upgunned and modernised) in its early wars of survival. Indian and Pakistan armies had probably a good mix of Shermans, Grant/Lee, and other stuff. They were used in combat till phased out in 1970s-1980s.
T-34s (primarily 85mm gun version) were also used by number of countries in the post war era (Korean and Vietnam War) and that is well into 1980s.

So they certainly fired in anger and a lot!

According to Urban Legends™ in 2004, when Bulgaria entered NATO, we had a single Panzer IV converted to a tank tug operational. The high brass taught it would be embarrassing, so they hid it away.

Source is hearsay of course

the T-34 has been 'used' in active combat the past years in Syria, Yemen and the Ukraine.

Did these tanks actually fight in WWII, or were they made post-war? Might be hard to tell.

That's actually hard to verify online.

When first reading about the T-34 in the Ukraine, I remember that it was described as an actual WW-2 era tank, taken from a museum/remembrance site somewhere.

However, I can't find any reference to that at the moment, so it would fall in the category 'hearsay and gossip'

My home country, Peru, bought a few LTP38 Czech tanks in the mid 30s. These were early versions of what would be better known as Pz38(t)
:
Check this one, donated back to Prague's Military institute:

The Peruvian army keeps one or two in working conditions; and it is typically seen in independence day parades
and its main battle tank is still the ancient T-55
