Invasion USA!! Dontra85 (J) vs NY59Giants (A)

Post by ny59giants »

Due to my comments on this thread earlier this week, I will be an Admiral Nimitz per se and take over as Allied Commander on 42 Jan 18th.

tm.asp?m=4474248

I just received a confirmation from Donald (Japan) that he is good with me taking over. Yesterday, I had a series of PMs from von Beanie (Norm) and had started my orders (got everything in USA and Eastern Pacific done to SoPac area.

Donald is not allowed beyond this post as I will give a screenshot and some details of where I'm at. This is Scen 1 and a stock game. Long, long time since I've played stock.[:D]

Initial PM on forum

I'm not going to continue my game. You are most welcome to contact my opponent: Don and see if it is practical to do so. I know he wants to continue and, in fact, offered to switch sides with me. He sent me the current turn files again, and I'd be happy to change my passwords to whatever you want, and forward the combat summary and game files to you.

My situation isn't hopeless by any means. I successfully defended Midway in December by reinforcing it as the KB was retreating from PH. Repulse and Prince of Wales are almost at South Africa for repairs. I haven't lost any major ships except two BBs from the Pearl Harbor raid. He has lost a Hiryu-class CV to one of my subs.

Although both Singapore and Clark base are under siege and will eventually fall, I've saved everything that my political points could save. Celebes, Borneo, Java and Sumatra are essentially empty except for the forces needed for garrisons. I've already created a substantial base at Luganville, Koepang and a few other locales to defend Australia and give you good, impregnable starting bases for the reconquest of the DEI. Because his main CV force is near Portland, I even put a defense and construction force at Tulagi almost half a year ahead of time. In short, I'm pretty sure I could win this by 1944 without the CVEs, AKs and TKs, but I just don't care to continue a game with a player willing to take advantage of the game system by doing the suicide mission at Portland.

And I would be happy to provide any other details you might want to know about the situation.

Just let me know if you want to continue, your preferred passwords (which you can change to something else later), and your email address, and I'll be happy to forward to you the two current Allied game files.

Best wishes, Norm

I believe that your air groups should move up by 6 months. I am not sure when that actually happens, maybe the next turn?

It's like Harry Heth at Gettysburg. They are just trying to get the shoes at the Nike plant in Portland. It's all a terrible misunderstanding!

This is fascinating. I am relatively new to the game and the forums (at least compared to most regulars [:D]), and I have not followed an AAR with a West Coast invasion before.

I will be following this :)

Mind if I ask a couple of questions?
Do you already have some strategy / objective in mind, IF you do lose Portland (and all those prospective CVEs)?
Perhaps some target you want to use your new toys against? Any ideas of how to approach the problems caused by the lack of CVEs?

If you have not thought about it yet, or prefer not to say for whatever reason, it's fine of course.

This is what I got in my test seven years ago. Note the date. Might be the difference.

Also note that the NZ package is co-mingled. Sorry. The USA stuff should be obvious.

Good luck, my hat is off to the bold Japanese player...this done in a scenario 1 game.

6000 men is probably 180 AV of Naval Guard type troops?

Any PT boats available...well, you know what to do...I suspect Japan will be in for a horrible game long term.

So did none of those emergency reinforcements arrive??? Sounds like a scenario error.

IF I recall correctly, it might take a day as the check occurs at the beginning of the turn. I tested a December invasion Canada a couple years back.

My first turn is away!! A no Stack Limit (SL) game......

Thanks, Mr Moose, it looks like I did get everything.
Just so much to do and begin to wrap my head around things.
Lots of airgroups without any planes.

Meanwhile, looks like base development around "Fortress Timor." [:)]
Koepang, Lautem, Darwin, and Broome have good number of Dutch troops that were attached to ABDA with significant supplies and fuel.
Java is mainly stripped.
Many Allied warships here, but Repulse and Prince of Wales are limping to Cape Town.

Other non-normal bastion are Port Blair, Tulagi, Luganville (3 American CVs plus), and some additional at Port Moresby.

Yes, the thing to do is resist like Hell with continental troops and reinforce or counterattack at
key points elsewhere. You might be able to get the USN carriers in among the supply train that must be on its way from Japan.

Also note Tacoma builds quite a few CVE as well and then there is the literally priceless B-17 and B-29 production at Seattle. The Portland CVE's don't even begin to arrive before mid 1943. I predict the newly unrestricted B-17's and ground troops will more than make up for it.

Can't lose Seattle under any circumstances.

If this is not a just a quick raid the Japs may not be content with running supplies from the Home Islands to the U.S. west coast. Look for them to maybe establish a base at Midway, or in the Aleutians.

Not only for relaying supplies, but as a CRUCIAL repair base for damaged ships.

Even I have never, ever seriously contemplated invading the WC. KUDOS for the Japanese Player. As Michael and I talked a few days ago the industrial consequences of the Japanese actually capturing ANY of these bases makes for a real interesting change in the 43--44--45 aspect of the match.
