IJN CL to CLAA Upgrade

I seem to remember having the ability to upgrade CL Tenryu and CL Tatsuta to CLAAs.

But i don't see the option.

I'm playing scenario 2.

Any suggestions?

I can't check right now, but IIRC IRL the Oi and Kitakami were converted to AA cruisers after their torpedo cruiser incarnation.

I think it occurs normally during the course of their upgrades, rather than being a conversion (the Nagara/Sendai/etc. class is a conversion IIRC). Check in their upgrade sequence. From memory, I think it is in 4/43 or somewhere around there.

I don't actually do those 2 upgrades as they lose the ability to lay Type 93 mines when they change types to CLAA, and I like that capability.

I thought it only becomes available after the first upgrade.

The ability to convert (not upgrade) from CL Tenryu to CLAA Tenryu becomes available after CL Tenryu upgrades 2/42. Then you will see the option on screen to convert to CLAA
