Google Maps has an API for game devs.

I won't pretend to know how this could work with the Command stuff (if it can at all) but I want it.

https://mashable.com/2018/03/14/google-maps-api-game-developers/

To whom do I send my lottery winnings?

Yes, this announcement has rippled through the war gaming community for about a month now. The API is targeted toward smart phone apps for the foreseeable future. The technology bears watching however. Currently, the API will probably not let players "destroy" "real" objects within Google Maps. So, for example, the API will not allow a player to grab a M1 tank and blow up their neighbors house even in jest.

Where is this wargaming community? I hadn't heard a peep on any forum or website I peruse.

So if I make a serious commitment on this and then Google decides to deep-six it (as with Google Reader and tons of other stuff) what then?

My heart gets broken and/or you go with OpenStreetMaps instead?

Yeah I'm sure it will be a "one line of code" switch.

Now I experiment with scenarios of Soviet-Afgan war. And it is confusing, when Mortar gallops througth mountains with speed 30kts, firing and hitting target in simultaneously. Is there ability except using Lua - to constraint facility speed and firing conditions?

Why is this in this thread. Did you mis-post it?

I think he assumed that with the title of this post, it would fit... the title does seem to indicate this to be some "catch all"for a land module (something I have not heard is even planned)
