Question for the vets.

Through PBEM - though possibly verses the AI in one of those iron man scenarios - has any one ever played into 45 long enough to equip a squadron to two with the F8F ?

If I recall correctly they start to arrive mid end of 45. I am away from my game just now so I am going on memory a bit.

Do they absolutely rock the competition ?

(I assume at such a date of deployment Japan would be unable to produce or reserve too many of its best fighters and even if they did the Bearcat would eat them up ?)

--

As I gain experience in this game I find myself more carefully paying attention to / managing deployment of CV assets based upon the date and production rate of the upgrades.

(I primarily play / prefer PDU off)

In my earlier games I tended to be 'wasteful' of my assets especially my airframes.

One grows in the details

"Drooling over the F8F" I dont think I will play long enough to experience it.. but I am curious.

Fits me as well. Imagine if the Allies could accelerate research and production, as the Japanese do.

I may have, but I'm not sure it's done anything but fly CAP so far. I'm in 09/1945 in a game right now. I can check later.

Honestly, looking at the stats a while back... it mostly just seems comparable to an F4U-4, in terms of game utility.

IIRC the climb rate is outstanding. Have not gotten to use them.

Well according to "hearsay" they had to capture one of the FW190 last editions (was it a Tai something?) intact

So realistically not before 45 anyway

I've used them in DOWNFALL.

Better than F6F-5, not as good as the later F4U's.

Needs better than 4 x 50cal at this point of the war, 4 x 20mm would be better.

Might you be referring to the Ta-152?
