It's one time double cost, but again, if the Axis ZOC extends across the evacuating rail line, you can't move the industry at all. I can't see many cases why you would want to pay that x2 price for arms or heavy industry. A plane or tank, ok.

Got it - I think the point is the rail line still has to be 0MP - so rail to port does not work. Only evac from a hex already on a port. So it would work in Odessa, say, but not Leningrad even if there is no ZOC on city or rail.

I don't think you can evacuate by sea, I tried to extract from Odessa in my game and it wasn't permitted.

We have had many reports of it being done in the past. Is it possible this was stopped in the latest version?

Someone would have to consult with Morvael. He would be up to speed on the latest changes.

Getting back to the air war, there are a couple things worth mentioning as they relate to game mechanics.

First, I'm an ardent supporter of right-clicking when it comes to ground bombing. The AI is somewhat intelligent, but a little more guidance for it is available by a player using the right tools.

It's a common belief that by right clicking a base, you are telling the AI you want to use those units in an attack. Well yes and no. Let's look at an example below, that is not not from our actual game.

Here is the direct selection of a base from Southwestern Air Command that contains IL-2s. When I right click, the AI pulls up the aircraft it has decided can participate in this mission. But we see no IL-2s. Why is that?

Here is another one where the AI selected the desired aircraft for the mission as well as others. But I don't want the others. How can I convey that message to the AI?

For a day bombing mission switch the others to night only or vice versa. As you reduce the other choices that can be selected it will leave you with only being offered the ones you want.

Quite right. So by setting the others to night, I set my tactical air forces to go in first, followed by the fast level bombers. This is a case where I want to get my tactical air forces as much experience as possible. HLYA still isn't flying CAP in the center or south, so the escort fighters can stay rested.

Here are air attacks on his units in the south. Even the I-153BS bi-planes are in on the action.

WEEK 6 -- July 24-30 1941

There are still units lingering in the Lvov pocket. I'm not sure at this stage if HLYA is just trying to keep them from re-appearing sooner rather than later or if he legitimately didn't leave enough to deal with the situation.

The Finnish situation has the last of my units surrounded in that area. That was probably six divisions wasted.

Here is the situation in the south after moves. He is over the Dnepr and has three airborne brigades hemmed in. A couple more divisions cannot get very far away. He has a one-hex bridgehead occupied by infantry. Still three panzer corps which I suspect will not change anytime soon are in a position to move towards Stalino. Consequently it's time to move off of the river line.

Back at Leningrad, HLYA completes surrounding the units and sends his two panzer corps forward to surround another three. Even showing a red fuel situation, they don't seem to be slowing down any. The 10 arms as mentioned before at Leningrad are not going to be getting out because of his ZOC over my intact rail line.

In the center, HLYA decides against a direct approach in order to surround even more units, this time from Western and Bryansk Fronts. There was at least one HQBU involved. This last move locks down more industry at Bryansk. I have to take a more significant move back as losing units at this rate is going to result in things going from bad to worse quickly.

One bit of good news is that my best divisions are largely intact, including some healthy tank divisions in reserve.

Here is what is now isolated.

And ground losses

As a new player apparently i can't give much advice. But after reading Hardluck's AAR I do admire your strong nerves. Hang in there and add oil!

Before I begin and as I have mentioned in my AAR post this was my last German game in WITE 1.0. I will not take nor will I ever consider playing the Germans again in WITE 1.0. This game(the match between M60 and I) has had that effect on me.

But Topeverest I am afraid this game is over. M60 is and always have been an excellent player. I can't praise enough the direction that M60 has given other players on this forum with countless hours & posts throughout the years. I do hope someone of his stature doesn't give up but picks himself back up, just like the Soviets did in the war, and continue to excel. I bow in admiration to M60, keep up the great work.

HLYA, you are a master of axis logistic in WITE.

You gave me such a lesson... Hats off to M60 for having played another game against you

And thanks for the AAR you did. I learnt a lot from them.

You Sir give me "way" too much credit. There are others far better than me playing this game. I'm glad to have had to opportunity to provide something of substance on what little I know. And again my many thanks to M60 for the game.

Yes, done with this one and thanks to HardLuck for the game and the kind words.

I just have the 8 multiplayer game remaining, and I only stick with that because three teammates are willing to live within the Soviet authoritarian world while risking the wrath of Stalin on an daily basis.

As long as they request it through proper channels, I usually give it the "thumbs-up"
