I'm positively impressed by the game. Great gameplay, good UI and good looking maps ! I'm already addicted.
Hope there will be more and more scenarios, particularly in the modern area (and also napoleonic/muskets).

Well done guys !

If TOAW wasn't a good wargame it wouldn't have lasted almost 20 years.

Vol.1
Vol.2
WOTY
COW
III
IV

Mr Koger did a real winner.

Well unlike the replies above I have never played the series at all. I am having a total blast blundering around in an MP game already playing the historically clueless Italians v Warspite in the North African Campaign having only played a couple of tutorials. I am learning something every time I play a turn and am only scratching the surface.

This is a fine game with a great design. I am glad all the debate over timestamps and the unique turn management did not put me off as once you start playing it really does make perfect sense.

I picked up TOAW III back in 2005 when looking for something more deeper than the Matrix edition of War in Russia.
After 12 years and trying Hearts Of Iron and Grigsby War in the East I still am convinced that TOAW is the most versatile wargame around, if only they would have kept the bloody BMP graphics!

I agree with JapLance. I read about the game for awhile, never laid down any cash until I purchased ACOW (A Century of Warfare). Liked it enough, but just was not grasping the scale and the play difference from the tactical level stuff I was playing.

But I always remembered that the system worked pretty good and the variety and span of scenarios was vast.

When I saw TOAW IV it was a no brainer. I love this game and have had a ton of fun just learning the ropes and playing the AI as I experiment and gain good familiarity with the rules. Will be doing some PBEM soon.

All I have to say is Secondary Icons...that alone makes it a great game for me. For years and years I wanted to mix icons to get the right game for me. Whoever thought of that is a genius!

While I think games like Hearts of Iron are a blast, I eventually always come back to this game. It still feels like the most realistic wargame on the market. Glad I upgraded to TOAW IV. It was a no brainer when Matrix sent me a coupon.

How/why did you receive a coupon ??! As a TOAW3 owner ?

My understanding is that some of the beta testers
got a coupon. I got one.

Makes sense. BTW the price was definitely OK for such a great game. So I'm happy I paid the full price.

Also he might be referring to the anniversary Matrix coupons that one receives after certain years of membership. :)
