Unused MPs

What happens to the unused MPs at the send of the turn ? Are they lost or are they somehow kept for the future.
In other words, should I consider unused MP as a loss of resource and force my units to use them all or are there possible benefits not using them all ?

Unused MP are used to dig fortifications and help ressupply the unit. Also units that move less spare trucks and fatigue less.
There is also lesser chance of mechanical breakdown of equipment.
Not moving is good.

In my experince mechanical breakdowns are very low in this game. You can move a panzer unit for 500 kms in a week/turn (considering max movement) and they lose one or two panzers in the process. I agree that as the game is turn based, it is not easy to implement a good mechanical breakdown/repair mechanism (panzers break making long treks during a week, but they also get repaired at the same time), but I still think attrition due to movement should be higher, especially moving with bad weather or mud.

All probably or very close to 100% unless they are KV-1S which were pretty reliable due to improved transmission

That is in game %? I have never checked number of KV 1s broken

One other feature not mentioned ... reserve .. extra MP's and a reserve status means possible participation in combat events in defense

You do save fatigue by not moving the full MP's every turn.
