It could have been the Germans because my wife's mother's mother's mother immigrated from Germany. My wife was playing Farm Town on Facebook while supper was cooking so Germany is a contender. It can't be the Italians at all because there are no Italians in either family tree nor any Austrians and neither of us know anyone called Duke or Ferdinand. I'm going to pin it on the British though because her father's father immigrated from England. It's their fault there was a war back in the 18th century and I'm sure that had something to do with there even being a U.S. to immigrate to. So yeah, my burned supper is obviously the fault of the English and their throwing tea parties in Boston. Or something. Isn't the guy who made Facebook of English descent? Yeah, the English.

Which reminds me of Pulp Fiction - the 50s diner.

The US was basically formed by a series of real estate deals wasn't it?

New Amsterdam becomes New York
Florida from Spain
Louisiana purchase from France
Gadsden purchase of Texas/Arizona - bits not nicked in the war with Mexico.
Alaska from the Russians.

So, everything is the fault of real estate dealers.

By the way, didn't somebody show that if the original $24 worth of beads that bought Wall Street had been invested at the stock market there would be enough money now to buy it back?

My guess would be too much alcohol consumed by the cook prior to making the meal.
