1. The USA uses the CA Houston to attempt to initiate a naval combat in the Marianas.

2. The USA then reacts; i.e., flies out, a Hudson NAV and P-38G fighter to the 2-box.

3. The CW then reacts a Beau- fighter to the 2-box.

4. The Japanese reacts a Ki-27 fighter to the 0-box.

5. Search rolls are 6 for the allies and 3 for the Japanese. Only the Japanese find. They select the allies units in the 2-box. However, they only have 3 SP's and must endure a naval air round.

6. MWiF then asks the allied player to select "Fighter" or "Bomber" for both the US and CW planes.

7. Then after that screen is closed it asks to choose again with no air units presented in the form. I then click fighter and this causes MWiF version 2.5.5 to crash.

game turn after planes have reacted and search rolls have been made.

game turn at the start of the naval combat phase before any area has been choose (or search rolls made or planes reacted).

This is kind of messed up but I found a workaround, which may also help with finding the root cause of this bug.

If the Japanese choose to include both sea areas, fly both fighter-bombers in box 2 as bombers, and all CVPs in box 3 as fighters then I'm able to proceed but in a weird way. After this "initial" selection of Fighter/Bomber, I ask to choose fighter/bomber (again) for the CVPs in the 3-box.
