What's gameturn prefer you?

Post by rico21 »

Choose one, two or three...

1- I go one piece you go one piece.
2- I go all my pieces and then you go all your pieces.
3- We go all our pieces in the same time.

I prefer "we go" for the realism, "I go all, you go all" for the sensation of control and "I go one, you go one" for the rise of adrenaline.I'm split.

WEGO is the best for me, especially if it is not restricted to certain time for each turn (Flashpoint Campaigns)

Lol! Apart from icons, that is about the shortest reply to a question I have ever seen on a forum. If we all did that, we would surely get through the day in a hurry![;)]

3 is best for realism when properly designed.

However very few games (at least of the war game type I prefer) offer it. In that case I go with 2 as being better. Moving one at a time just makes no sense unless you're playing something like chess or checkers type games.

RTS (real time) doesn't work for me. I gave up arcade like reflexes back with Atari original games sensation. Also too much going on for my senior mind to track in games like scourge of war.

As an "old" fashion board war gamer I prefer 2. [:)]

I personally did not enjoy the wego systems I tried. [:(]

I'm sixty-three years old and have congestive heart failure. I don't believe that I have time for 1. [8|]

WEGO then Turn based. Very rarely like a realtime game.

So Number 3

Wego for digital, but in the realm of board games, it's hard to say. The best board game design I have ever experienced was the card game based design UpFront.

The ultimate in turn based as far as I can see.
Wargame, 05% of the time.
Play with Barbies 05% of the time.
Play with Legos 10% of the time.
Build models 20% of the time
Shopping 60% of the time.
Exlains why I buy em more than I play em.

Zakblood, king of the abstraction, do you think we'll see a day Upfront on PC?
Of course, I don't want a negative or abstract answer![:D]

Yeah sadly, those that own UpFront are not interested in us getting it in board game let alone computer game format.

I play the card game Hearthstone. Awesome game. About the ONLY video game or any form of game for that matter that I play lately.

It's free, genuinely free, balanced and you play against humans easily. The best part is my son who is brutally good at the game makes my decks.
So that way I end up being a lot more devastating than might otherwise be the case. I intentionally use the base original card back to conceal I've been playing it a very long time :)

2 as well ...

But looking forward to the day with an AI strong enough to take "reaction orders / objectives" - just not configured opportunity fire.

Meaning - if the enemy breaks through the line and is exploiting to Town A or Town B - be able to set my armored reserve to move, engage and block based upon priorities given to the "friendly Commander AI" ...
