For those that are nostalgic like I am over old SPI monster games - I'm tentatively excited about this:

TSS-Hexwar

I have fond memories years ago about playing this in a friends garage and having a really fun time.

Tentatively excited - because Hexwar quite often makes some bad mistakes and design conversion decisions ....

Based on the follow-up support they are currently giving Command and Colors - The Great War however and the fact that this title is only 4.99 USD atm - I will give it a shot.

Don't like Hex War. CC The great war needs glasses to play the text is so tiny. I don't even wear glasses.
And hexwar have a terrible reputation for re skinning a game and selling it over and over with just a new title and sprites.

Playing on an iPAD, I have no issues seeing anything in Command and Colors - The Great War.

I like that system. It very much reminds me of fun pick up games you could sit down and play at wargame conventions in an hour or less.

Yes - Hexwar has a lot of issues, but every once in a while they surprise me with better offerings like The Great War and Assault on Arnhem.

I am not a fan of their Tank battles 1941 - 1945 though. The maps are far too cramped for maneuver. For that type of combat, I'll always go back to Battle Academy 2.

Hence ... the "Sort of" at the end

Don't think Tiller's line were based on the SPI's games .... thought they were JT's own design?

I have all the Battleground series and all the SPI equivalents. I can't tell any difference between them.
