OT: Information on TOE Allies / German

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

OT: Information on TOE Allies / German

Post by KenchiSulla »

Hi all,

Always trying to learn more about the big conflict, I'm looking for reference material on (western) allied and german organisation / TOE down to the lowest levels of organisation.

Could you help me out?

Bayonet Strength was discontinued, but you still can access via the web archives : https://web.archive.org/web/20160521065 ... /index.htm

Other than that, the works from niehorster seems to be a reference : http://www.niehorster.org/
(in both cases, be ready for a travel in web 1.0 !)

I hope the other forumers can comment / add on this, always eager to have new knowledge

Nafziger has lots of OOBs and TOEs which drill down to individual men and equipment but you would have to search for any PDF relevant to your interest.

Here is a finding aid for the Nafziger archive

http://cgsc.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/ref/ ... 11/id/1277

And here the Nafziger archive is broken up by historical era and WW II by year.

For information on British formations this is a great website although it primarily deals with OOB as opposed to TOE.

http://www.britishmilitaryhistory.co.uk/documents.php

Be sure to look through each of the sections on the left of the page and then through the different pages in each section. There are many PDFs to download in each section.

The Editor manual for WITW actually lists many great web-based resources for research into OOBs and TOEs. Here is a screenshot of the page.
