Blizzard wastage/losses

Post by Icier »

Morvael, how are the blizzard/ winter wastage / losses calculated without combat...in other words
are the losses a preset percentage & is it the same for both sides?

I think there are rolls involved, so probably morale, experience and leader skills play a part. Obviously there is extra penalty for certain Axis units during first winter, so they take more losses.

The first winter effect for germany is described in detail in rules.

For normal winter (or german first winter with the mild option), there is less information.

As German player you can greatly effect what is lost or not.

Send all your SU's (Other then SU's in units in city's) back to Germany during the snow turns, send all planes to reserves last
turn of snow - same for LW units. Put all your panzer units in citys or back in Germany.

Cav units send to Germany.

Also from the start of game only move what you have to when u have to.
A small savings every turn in trucks is HUGE after even 20 turns.

The game is 200+ turns so any little thing you can come up with to save anything is HUGE down the road.

Hi Pelton & thanks for the answer...but I probably phrased the question wrongly.

I did a winter (blizzard) turn where neither side did any combat at any time & yet the Germans had a wastage of 40000 men..which got me thinking, that there must be a wastage/loss figure built into
each blizzard turn on top of battle casualties and would also explain the loss of artillery/tanks
in that turn.
Since nothing was done (turn wise)to activate the units the only thing I can put it down is that
there is a builtin percentage loss & then I was wondering if it applied to both sides, as my opponent
didnt mention it.
And in case people are wondering why no action...a end of turn was hit accidently so be fair we both forgo a turn.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

Are you using real blizzard or mild ?

According to manual, if you are using real blizzard, there is a wastage.

Also you have front line attrition as usual.

Blizzard...and it was 42-43.
The way I understand it is that it only applies to 41-42.
