I have been reading through the old posts and people keep talking about their "five" RR units, but I only have four. Was this changed or something?

Yes, FBD5 now comes as reinforcement in May 1942.

To avoid having to open a new thread, i ask my noob questions here:
1. Is there a possibility to see how many APs you have at the moment? I was too retarded to find this so far.
2. How to reassign support units of all types to other HQs? I have no problems to assign support units to lower HQs and units but is there a way to make them going the other direction? I read something about "set support at zero, then everything streams up" but is there a simpler method without realying on random AI assignment?
3. Their is no way to make a construction bataillon repair a special rail hex, it is instead always AI controlled, isn't it? just because it often repairs the wrong railway leading to nowhere.

1) Yes, it's in the top-right corner, next to small weather icon and below "Vehicle Pool" label.
2) You can reassign them by going to their details window and clicking HQ name. Just like for on-map units. Then a list of nearest HQs will show up and you will be able to select one. The other method (by using ASSIGN button) only works down the chain. Using support units limit (for automated SU movement) may get you mixed results, I never use it.
3) No, but you have several FBD/NKPS units that are operated manually. Construction support units work only in automatic mode.

1) I am silly.
2) I am very silly. For both questions i looked somewhere deep in the menu/manual and oversaw the obvious.
3) Why is the system designed like this? Is it to allow the construction bataillons to work during logistics phase? I don't really understand why it is not allowed to the player to control those bataillons and instead let the AI use it to repair railways leading to nowhere (no disrespect, i just don't understand this decision). I already used FBD/NKPS to repair railways, but thanks for pointing out this too.

3) I don't know. It worked that way even before my tenure here. From what I know you can expect them to work more intelligently in WitE 2.0.

I've tinkered with the Construction Battalions and have found better results when they are assigned to an Army (German) rather than to Corps. It costs Admin points but if you've got extra, try moving them out of Corps to an Army located in the area where you want the rail to be improved. You can also move them from OKH or Army Groups down to Army (for free I think).

Another hint. Find a CB that is off somewhere you don't want repaired. Send it back to its HQ, then immediately go to that support unit and reassign it to the HQ you want it to be at, otherwise it'll keep getting sent out automatically.

Has FBD5 been nerfed?

Just doing some tests on it now that is no longer is available on turn 1 and it seems to have a much lower number of MPs and RRV - even when extra construction is assigned to it. I cannot see any difference in the ToEs - so why is this? Is this correct or a bug?

Here I have assigned four more construction battalions but no matter how many I add it makes no difference

Similarly RRV seems capped at 12 - no matter how many construction battalions are assigned to it

I tried all the main named types (construction, rail, road, RAD labour) for same results. In terms of ToE all the construction SUs are actually just different quantities of labour squads and support. I read earlier how some were better for some things but came to the view that they were wrong and that the differences were only cosmetic. But at least as far as attaching different "name" types to FBD5, all get the same result.

you need to go through friendly logistic phase to see MP changes
RRV also counts-in the amount of labor squads on hand and their experience + bonus based on unit names

For information for others I went through a number of logistics phases and assigned lots of extra construction and did finally get to more MPs

Construction Battalions are not good to be part FBD (it's better to use them for digging), while R.A.D., O.T. and Road units get a bonus to create RRV.
