Thanks Bombur if you can e-mail the file to me, that you are working of at least I can be confident that I am not responsible for the problem. If you don't mind.

Thanks again just read your last comment

Tom, you are going to get very, very good at doing a German first turn.

Guys, I think we need a restart with the "Y" version.

OK restart it is sorry guys don't normally have this many restarts in fact rare if we get any.

If you can put a copy of the Y version in the folder I can download from there, my access to VR library has become problematic as it no longer accepts my password.

The United States is deep in the grips of isolationist politics. The world does not look like such a dangerous place from this side of the great oceans that surround us.

We do feel for the Chinese people caught up in a harsh war with the Japanese. However in the interest of better relations with the Japanese we will not imposes sanctions at this time.

The United States is satisfied with the world as it is. There are things we would have otherwise, but nothing that would draw us from our task of rebuilding our economy after the devastating depression we have all suffered through. However we can be drawn out of isolation by aggression against peaceful neighbors. We support peace, and while some would point out that we are weak as a newborn babe this is unlikely to remain the case. If you covet your neighbor's lands, and choose aggression to gain your ends we will stand against you.

February 1938

The State Department, in a series of diplomatic notes, has begun to express an American leaning towards the democracies of France and Great Britain. We remain firmly isolationist but any actions against these two nations will be sure to influence public opinion.

Japanese overtures to China regarding ceasefire and peace are welcomed.

The German program to build housing is also welcomed.

The USN is preparing to patrol off important ports so we can remain aware of naval developments. These neutral patrols should aid in peacekeeping, and should not be seen as a warlike act.

March 1938

Germany celebrates its alliance with Italy El'Duce proving a good friend to Germany and her people, and a staunch ally during the last war, and as such one of the few European nations to accept Germany and require no punitive treatment of the German people after the mistakes of the 1st World War. A war not started by the German people but by its militaristic leaders.

The British remain a enigma to the Germans this government poster was obtained by German intelligence who are working around the clock to decode its true meaning. Is it some coded message to the French we will get to the bottom of this mystery.

Italy did not do well as an Allied nation in the Great War, and we suspect she has no better chance of doing well on the German side if war comes. The many, many Italians who now are American citizens deeply hope Italy can follow the American lead and regain her neutrality.

No nation has designs on Italy. She has plenty of time to prepare an armed force which can defend her people.

There is no need to be preparing for war. It was a wasteful horror twenty years ago, and it will be even worse if we make the mistake again.

April 1938

The winner of the Berlin flower show for the twentieth year running.

Germany is bewildered by the US talk of alliances Italy wishes to avoid tension on her northern border so a Alliance with her northern neighbour seems a simple and elegant solution, and it is noted that USA makes no reference to the other alliance formed between France and Great Britain.

The mention of the Italian alliance with Germany was prompted by Italian concerns with French and British moves.

The United States does feel that the British and French alliance has led to increased tensions in Europe. The Italians seem to feel this too. We were nearly suggesting that Italy might regain her neutrality and avoid such concerns.

The alliance with Germany does not protect Italy from Germany in any way. Germany could declare war on Italy at her pleasure. While it does not protect Italy from Germany it does mean that any declaration of war on Germany will also bring war to Italy. Italy is a proud nation with a powerful navy, but she is not ready for war, yet she has placed herself in the path of any conflict to come.

Italian adventures in Africa may have given them an inaccurate view of the conflict to come. Peace is best for Italy.

French and British moves

There we have it then, and I would contend that it is these moves by the British and French that have caused the Alliance of Italy and Germany when we feel threatened, we look for friends not retreat in to neutrality.

Is the US aware of a impending conflict, if they are then please share this information with the world, to allow nations to prevent such a catastrophe.

Catastrophe indeed, but in light of the Berlin flower show we were worried about Italian prospects in the battle of the flowers!

Italia wishes to assure the world of it's peaceful intentions. We have an economic alliance with Germany that is mutually productive. And peaceable. The Italian people are also entering into regional economic agreements and closer ties with other regional powers such as Yugoslavia and Albania. We are all recovering from the devastating depression of the last decade. We neither desire war, nor are we prepared for a war, whether another War of the Roses or any other "battle of the flowers".
