I remember some seasons there was this British flag in a horizontal position but undulating while that music played. I loved it.

Its not late. Its the morning and I am getting ready to go to work. You guys really need to fix your clocks - whenever I go to Florida I notice that all American clocks and watches seemed to run about 5 hours behind the proper time. Strange. I would have thought you'd have fixed this problem by now.

I was wondering what he was talking about, it's about 6:30 AM there.

Yes I often wonder what geofflambert is talking about. 6:30AM here? Well of course, we have the right time here in the UK.

No sir! We are on Greenwich Mean Time. Like everyone else should be - before they all started getting self important and stuff and thinking they could have their own made up time. [walks off muttering] strange colonial chappies.... and as for gorns.....

There's another thing about the Battle of Jena in particular. Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, a philosopher of some import, was spared death when he was interrupted by French soldiers. Archimedes, in similar circumstances was slain.

Perhaps Archimedes wasn't a friend of revolutions and has never claimed himself as a jacobian nor defend the ideas of liberte and egalite in quite conservative circles...
maybe speaking against Fichte also help a little bit, who knows.

Archimedes was no friend of the Romans. Hegel was a fast friend of anyone who would raise a beer stein with him. Fichte was into theology, not philosophy so much.

Jacobian? Liberte and Egalite? Politics is (sometimes) the sea we swim in. Philosophy is no more concerned with that than the air we breathe, unless it distorts our view of the truth. Let us not speak of these things again in this forum.

It would be cool to say its an old war wound - took a round at Juno in '44. But in realty its there, it's just that I hop to work as a rule. Sometimes I hop on the left leg, sometimes the right. Well I like to mix things up a little - I'm a little crazy like that....

Thank-you. I have a whole draw full of them and all in completely different colours - Black, Noir, Taxi de Londres, Banana (Canaan, not Fyffes*) charcoal and very dark grey indeed.

*You will need to be a certain age to remember that one

I've tried to avoid participating in the hijack of my own thread, but I can't refrain any longer. I've waited for somebody, anybody, to raise the possibility that that photo could be the work of the Ministry of Silly Walks.
