A bit of housekeeping here as this thread will contain the next set of Panzerblitz situations by Alan R. Arvold, as originally packaged in his Ode To Panzerblitz II set.

From his Design Notes:

quote:

Due to success of “Ode to Panzerblitz” it only seemed natural that I continue this work on converting the old Panzerblitz scenarios. Thus I worked on the next set of scenarios, #14-25, which were originally published in the General Vol. 11, #4, and then later republished in the Wargamer’s Guide to Panzerblitz. These were so popular back when they came out that they were considered to be the second “official” scenarios for the game. Yet for all of their popularity, only one of these scenarios has been converted into an East Front II scenario. Now this is about to change.

The scenarios presented here are converted to the same standard as those of the original “Ode to Panzerblitz”. Thus I shall not repeat the design notes for the system as the original article about them is equally applicable. As before these design notes will deal with the set up and construct of the scenarios. Variables such as environmental conditions, morale, changing the order of battle for one or both sides, I leave to the judgment of the individual players.

So here we go then:

September, 1944

[Western Byelorussia] [AXIS/ALLIED] [HISB] [GD]

German Rear Area Raid: Western Byelorussia: During and after the great 1944 offensives, there would be periods when no stable, clearly defined front existed.

Here the German 814th Reconnaissance Battalion (reinforced) has penetrated Russian lines and is now within striking distance of the Soviet 11th Army headquarters, with Group Kosmin from a nearby Russian tank corps racing to intercept them before they can do too much damage.

10 February, 1942

[Vyazma] [AXIS/ALLIED] [HISB] [GD]

Soviet Rear Area Operations: Morshanova-Diaglevo Region, Vyazma Sector: In early 1942, numerous Russian units were cut off in the confused fighting around the German stronghold of Vyazma.

The 1st Cavalry Corps and the 8th Airborne Brigade, two such units, managed to evade their pursuers and return to Russian lines in the early summer of 1942. They owed their survival to the cooperation of partisan forces and to captured German supplies.

[Central Poland] [AXIS/ALLIED] [HISB] [GD]

German Armored Offensive:

Central Poland: A hypothetical situation. Hitler comes to his senses and cancels the Ardennes Offensive, ordering the units involved to attack the Soviets instead.

The situation depicts the German 1st SS Panzer Division colliding with the Russian 25th Tank Corps which has set up defensive positions while it prepares for the Russian offensive that will occur in the following month.

13 January, 1945

[Vistula River, Poland] [AXIS/ALLIED] [HISB] [GD]

Pocketing Action:

Vistula River Line: With the start of the Russian offensive on January 12, 1945, breakouts were achieved all along the Vistula River with the aid of massive artillery barrages. Intact defending units, as in all overwhelming offensives, often found themselves in danger of encirclement.

In this situation, the German 117th Armored Reconnaissance Battalion races to safety with disordered mobile units of the Russian 56th Guards Cavalry Regiment and 11th Tank Corps in hot pursuit.

Somewhere in Russia: A theoretical situation. Two heavily reinforced rifle regiments from the 4th Guards Rifle Division and the heavily reinforced independent 33rd Guards Tank Brigade take on the German 495th Grenadier Regiment.
