Unloading supplies on the beaches

Post by undercovergeek »

Landed at a few beaches on the Japanese first turn and some LCUs havent gotten all their supplies off the boats yet and are in the red

if i attack with these LCUs is the order of the turn such that supplies are unloaded before the attack, therefore supplying a lot of these troops out of the red?

Sigh. I am starting to understand Symon's and Alfred's frustration with things a lot better since I have been on the forum for a long time now.

In 5 secs I looked this up in the MANUAL and found the answer on pages 32-33 titled amazingly enough 'Sequence of Play'. It VERY clearly shows that supplies are unloaded BEFORE combat. You can even find out how much supplies will be unloaded if you were willing to read those section of the manual. But I will leave this for you to research or not as you see fit.

Dude, you think this is a computer game or something? Think about it.

Put the boys ashore and they are prompt good to go. But tomorrow, they need rice, ammo, toilet paper, new underpants, all sorts of stuff that don't come in with the assault wave. Supply is in waves. Lots of it is lost just because it was. You need more and then a skoosh more just because you do.You must, simply must, have supply backup for a landing party. Or are you just looking to land units at open bases?

It is best to go in with a surplus of ships and have some of them carry supply only. This will enhance the chances of a full load of supply landing with your troops. This is what makes the Allied LST a game changer. They just vomit supply on the beach for you...[;)]

They vomit everything onto the beach. There have been times when I've referred to the Allied logistical march as "vomiting up bases." The LST opens up, spews out a few hundred engineers, and the next day you've got a base.

I don't just make sure I have extra ships in the invasion TF.

I set up a separate supply TF of pure LSTs and escorts.

It starts unloading at the same time as the assault troops and is empty long before the APAs/AKAs in the invasion TF.
