When is it best to pull the Cavalry from the line so that they are ready to be formed into corp for december 41?

What makes sense to me is to pull them back during the mud season, have them rest and refit as needed. Keep them as a last ditch strategic reserve during the November snow turns and if all goes well they will be in good shape for the blizzard counterattack. Do keep in mind that destroying cavalry units is a high priority for the Axis player during the summer; you need to protect them accordingly. But you get some cavalry reinforcements during the fall and/or early winter in any case.

Remember to attach a tank battalion, sapper regiment and one more support unit, to increase their CV. Early corps are small and weak, yet they are your best units at that moment.

18 of them are never commited, they would form the 6 cavalry corps that soviets raised in december .

If you manage to score some wins earlier (for example by scoring easy wins if part of the front is covered by Rumanians), you have a chance to get Guards Cavalry Corps faster.

If I remember well, I had 1 Guards Cavalry Corps formed by mid-December. This is not much, but imagine how it improved my morale to see this Red counter.
